If it don't fit, force it.
I broke my passenger side window on my 83 dually so I got one out of my 79 half ton and put it in, well it fits except now I can't hardly roll up the darn window. It's real tight, it will go up with alot of force. I wander if the 79 is a little wider. Does anyone know?

I think that the 73-80 doors are different from the 81-87 trucks, so that may explain your problems.

I thought the doors changed in 77? If so, you should be alright on the window. Are any of the rubber pieces binding? I've never changed one, but I'd try peeling out the window channel rubber and then try the window. If it is still hard to roll up/down then it may be binding in the window regulator. Perhaps a glass shop that's done a lot of them may offer some advice...

well, yes and know on glass. In 81, GM used lighter glass all around to shave weight, so its possible the window is wider. BUT the door shells are the same 73-87 im pretty sure.

Thanks for your feedback, I had it all out when I painted the truck. I replaced all the rubber molding and felt, I will try adjusting the wing sometime this week. I think I will just take it all apart and check it all out.

AHHHH you just answered your question. changing felt and rubber stiffens the action of the windows until the new material is broken in. Even just replacing the plastic door channel on the door panel stiffens the action.
