'72 with leaf springs?

I've recently bought a '72 LWB Fleetside with the Cheyenne package. This truck has leaf springs under it. Didn't the 72's all have coil rear springs, or did Chevrolet make them with leafs and coils? I would also like to ask if anyone knows if replacement bed side panels are made for the LWB fleetside? And finally, on the inside of the cab, just above the windshield and just about on line with the bolts for the visors, is a line of rust from one side to the other which is rusted through in some places. Does anyone make a patch panel for this, and how difficult would this be for a normal body shop to repair? Sorry for so many questions, but it seems the more I work on my truck, the more I find wrong with it. Thanks.

Hey Ron, my 72 C/20 with the Custom Deluxe package has rear leaf springs, but I had looked at a 72 C/20 a while back with coils. Looking at the sales brochure(sp) you could order them either way. On the bed sides, Chevy Duty has a listing in the new catalog for LWB replacement bedsides. Can't help on the interior rust issue...

I looked in my Scott's Super Trucks book from Alberta, Canada, and he lists a replacement repro metal piece for the rusted area you are referring to.
Here is a link... www.scottssupertrucks.com

Hope this helps.

Most of the vendors that are associated with this board can get you a repair panel for above the windshield. Plus, they all have or work on these trucks, so more than likely they'll know what your talking about when you ask for it. Hope this helps?

Paul is actually the one that had the inner roof patch panel reproduced. It is correct for the 67-71, but will work in a 72. The patch panel has the raised area where 67-71 the interior rear view mirror mounts. 72 mirror is mounted on the windshield.

Chevy was stock coil rear, they could be ordered with rear leaf. GMC just the opposite and could be ordered with a coil rear.

Your leaf springs should be mentioned in the glove box on your option sheet.

Very interesting that they are making the repro with the raised portion for the mirror, that is actually correct for only one year...1971. ALL other years were flat.

Typo on my part, correct for a 69-71.

69-70 could have also had the raised area, depending on which plant did the stamping. Not all 69-70s are flat.

interesting, I have never seen one that was not on a 71.
Bummer, I had my mind set on not learning anything today.
