What is this hole?

I am confused here. I am trying to study this edlebrock carb before jumping into instalation. On the other side of carb, I have 3 holes for vaccume and pcv valve connection. On the side I hace the fuel inlet. Then what is this hole? Am I making any mistake about other holes? Any input is greatly appreciated. THANKS

Go to http://www.edelbrock.com/tech/index.html
and click Get Instant Answers
Then Show me products that are non-vehicle specific
Then click Carburetor and on the next page click Carburetor.
Next is a page where you find your specific carb and will take you to a page for your carb. Then click on Installation Instructions, a PDF page will open with complete instructions and pictures telling you what is what.

Yes, the big one on the back. If this is brake vaccume, on my current carb the vaccume line comes out off the intake and then split and goes to brake booster and carb. Is it gona be the same? because it looks very big big. I guess I need to use some adaptor?
By the way, I have not called edlebrock yet, but on their website, I couldn't find any info regarding this hole.
Thanks for the answers.

the normal way to do it is plug the intake....and get a line with a one way valve from the booster to the back in that port.

If your brake booster vacuum is already hooked to the intake, just get a pipe plug and plug that hole in the carb.

This is my current setting:
The red cross which is coming out of brake, goes to intake and from there it connects to carb. Is this the one which is suppose to go to the big hole on the back of edlebrock? Does it suppose to connect directly or it needs to go to intake again?
The other green cross which is coming from valve cover connect to the carb directly.

The green Hose PCV goes to the front bottom middle of the Edelbrock. The brake booster hose normally goes to the rear bottom middle of carb. You going for a new intake also? It looks like you have a 2bbl now and the edelbrock is a 4bbl. The tap on the intake could go to the transmission if Automatic and the vacuum canister for the heater controls otherwise plug it. If you go with a stock cast iron intake you will need a adapter base, if you go with a edelbrock intake you don't really need it but some folks use them anyway.

I am changing the intake too, to edlebrock performer series. therefore this is my undrestanding, correct me if I am wrong: I connect the brake booster line directly to rear carb hole (my original hole confusion) and will cap the hole on tha intake.
By the way, I have manual transmission.

That sounds about right. You don't currently have any vacuum canister for vents or anything then plug the intake. Try and get a brass or stainless plugs and bolts, If you use plain steel they rust and discolor the intake. You will need a heater hose adapter, and a large plug (unless you have aftermarket temp sensor), a stainless bolt for the throttle return spring, a new aluminum distributor hold down and bolt, a new chrome neck for radiator, stainless manifold bolts, and gasket set to match the manifold (throw away the thick rubber front and rear seals use black RTV, you will never get it to seal if you use the rubber ones), new vacuum hose to the distributor.

New fuel line, steel fuel filter before the carb, new air filter housing.

You might want to install new valve covers too so you'll have an oil fill location...you could dump through the PCV or the vent hole, but a larger hole is nice.

Thanks guys. Very good info for somebody like me. About the vave cover, I was thinking to change those but I was afraid to add to my confusion because the one I saw, they have on hole on each valve cover but the one I have, the one on the R side of the engine, has two holes. If you can give me insight, I will change those too.
Guys, I have to say it again, thanks for info.

Here's how I did the line off of my Edelbrock carb when I converted to power brakes.

It's a section of steel fuel line that I bent to fit. Notice, I put a bulge on the end of the steel line to give the rubber hose some bite, or resistance to coming off as easily.

By the way, that's an Edelbrock Performer intake too, it's just painted to blend in with it's surroundings better.
