65 rear end in a 62
i have a 62 1/2 ton chevy and was wondering if a 65 or 66 rear end can be bolted in with out any mods. any help would be great. thanks mike

If both rear ends have coil springs, I think it would be a straight bolt on. The only welding is when you go from leaf to coil and the u bolt mounts have to be swapped. Never did it 66 to 62. Planning to do it with a 72 leaf to 63 coil and I have to swap the mounts.

Don't forget to check your pinion angle, and track width. It may look like it fits fine to the eye, but you could experience problems down the road like UJoint wear or wierd handling.

The 65-66 will not bolt into a 62. The 60-62 trucks have wider frames, different rear control arms and panhard bar. In 63 the frames changed and stayed the same until 66. The 63-64 rears have their own panhard bar and brackets.
