67 SWB parts in North AL

I guess it had to happen; the boy totalled the `67 we gave him for graduation. Here's a few pics of the parts that survived that may be of interest to a local builder; don't plan on shipping anything until I get to the smaller parts:

SWB Fleet bed w/ shaved tailgate, complete with lights; minor damage (can take more pictures if needed): $600 picked up locally, can't ship

How about a small window cab roof to graft onto your later model truck when you're doing that top chop (got the small glass as well, in great shape): $100 picked up locally

Or a dash that's not chopped up too badly; I've got the cover plate that the radio was mounted in to go along with it if you want it: $50 picked up locally

Or the power steering setup that was on the truck when he wrapped it around the tree; you replace the bent tie rod end & cut hose: $75 picked up locally

More to come as I get the pictures taken...

Inspector772 - I've edited the posts to add prices that I failed to post earlier; just add up the prices and you'll have a total dollar figure. I do expect them to be picked up near Huntsville, AL so that the buyer can inspect the parts before hauling them off; it's hard to make the pictures show everything and I want them to be happy with their purchases. The truck was a very nice ride before he wiped it out as you can see here...

Gutterman - See above, prices added to post.

WOW! That was a really sharp truck. I hope your boy didn't get hurt in the accident.

No, he was seriously shaken up but just had a few bruises; we had installed three point belts before he started driving the truck & I expect they helped with that. A fellow was recently killed there when he crashed his Jag into the same spot & it caught fire/exploded; that shook him up all over again when he read about it!

The impact ripped the engine & tranny from their mounts, destroying all of the inner sheet metal and things like the alternator, radiator & such. I had to cut the headers up with a sawzall to be able to remove the engine because I couldn't unbolt them they were bent up so bad. I've salvaged what I can of it since the frame & cab were so badly tweaked; no way it was worth trying to fix. What I can use on my `66 GMC I'll be keeping, the rest are looking for another truck to grace with their presence. Damn shame, but I should've known better than to give it to him; no matter how well he was doing in school & all, he's still a teenager!

Are you selling the heater and fan controls? My 72 needs the set(heater fan switch knob broke) and hopefully you are selling that one if it will work in a 72.
On the cab, how is it installed? Arent they welded on or do they bolt on? If they are bolt on I would be interested in it.

Yes, the heater & fan controls with with the cables can be had for $30 if you're interested. I don't know if there's any difference between the 67 & 72 controls but I checked the levers & cables & they all are working freely.

The cab roof is strictly a custom-type job with lots of welding and fitting required; the only reason I cut it off the ruined cab is that it's in good shape and is a small window cab. I figure if someone's doing a top chop or replacing a roof that's ruined it'll be a good one for them to use. It's definitely NOT a bolt-on piece!

Don,

Glad to hear that your boy was not messed up. These old trucks can be replaced...but young men, that's another story (got that tidbit from my grandfather).

The front of that truck reminds me of what I did to my 73 Nova back when I was a teenager....but you should have seen the Corvette that I hit to accomplish that one.

I think it's a good thing you salvaged the roof section. Some of us find the unpleasant surprise of rust around the windshield frame when stripping down our cabs to do a restoration...and your roof would surely help someone with this type of problem...especially in a small-window 67.

Good luck selling off your extra parts.

Sorry about the wreck but glad your son is OK.

I would be intested in the seat if it was not damaged in the wreck. What is it out of.

Okay, let's see if I can answer efficiently:

Thanks, everyone, for the well wishes on the boy; they are appreciated & he's doing fine. He's over the physical and getting over the mental effects of the crash. I am trying to make the best of the crash and a lot of stuff that's not listed for sale is going to be used in my `66 GMC (steering wheel, gauges, engine, tranny, lowering springs & spindles, rear end, brakes & the wheels that survived).

Litdave - The seat is just a recovered stocker as far as I can tell & it still is in good shape; I plan to post the interior parts in a new post tonight. The visors are also upholstered to match the seat and the carpet came out of it in decent shape as well. Stay tuned...

Dixiesys - As far as the tailgate goes, yes; the gate works fine (release & all) and is attached to the bed. I don't plan on separating it as there are folks that are interested in it as a whole and that's the way I want it sold. You're welcome to get with me and look it over, but there are already 4 folks ahead of you that have expressed interest in it.

1971c10 - When I get through deciding what I won't be using on the `66, I'll be glad to have you come over & check it all out.

Wouldn't that cab top make a sweet blazer half-cab without too much effort? Now I know where to get it as soon as I talk wifey into the Blazer

I'm familiar with Grant; I grew up in Scottsboro myself. Toney is about halfway between Huntsville & Ardmore on Hwy 53. You're maybe an hour away, worst-case. You're first up on the controls, so let me know when you find out if they'll work or not. I've got another fellow interested in them as well if you decide you don't need them!
