I saved my Truck from the Experiment and training using the Jaws of Life... Some Citizen gave this truck to the Pahrump Volunteer Fire Dept. One of my friends was on the Volunteer Fire Dept. he knew my Daughter had just wrecked my 72, And I liked these years and called me, I went to the Town Board and offered $200.00 to buy it instead of them Tearing it up... Well that was in 1986,, Since then, I have done a very good job of tearing it up Myself... So well in fact,,,, Sometimes I wonder what happened to that Truck I bought ????
Up until approximately 1995 or so, I kept EVERY receipt of what money went into this old Truck,,,, Those receipts totalled in excess of $20,000.00 In seeing them and totalling them up, I got very Discouraged about the amount in Comparison to what it looked like...... I threw all of the Receipts away and have never kept another.... and as I typed in another thread, I have done ALL of the labor myself.. |

The '68 Stepside I've had since 1973 -- 31 years. The '71 Jimmy I bought in '95, 9 years.
Expenses? No comment.

My 70...2 yrs, the 82 1 yr. Both have more in them than what they are worth. Of course if you add the expense of building a new shop so I can house and work on them, it really means I have more invested than there value .
On the serious side, both have around 4000 into them.

My 70 GMC for a little over 4.5 years. The 71 I got earlier this year (Feb). And while it's not in my yard yet, a 72 C30 I bought Monday of this week!
Total money (not counting gas): about $12,500 between the first 2, and when all said and done $850 for the 72.

I bought mine (67 C20) 4-5 months ago. Since this is the first one I have not spend that much on it yet. I am still gathering information about it.

Bought mine in July 1974 which was my first year in the military. It has traveled coast to coast, north and south in the US (mostly pulling my trailored 65-66' Mustangs around) and even spent 3 1/2 years in Italy (where it was last restored) followed immediately by 3 years in Germany. I don't think it's the most traveled truck around but it has seen alot of territory in its 30+ years and 349,000 miles. Now a days its more of a garage queen that I occasionally use to get supplies to repair my rental properties.
Estimated investment throughout the years, $20-25K and that includes my expensive "hot rod" period of the 70's.

I've had my 72' for almost 4 years. I bought it I was 14 and began to make her my own. I rebuilt the engine, added air suspension and all sorts of other stuff all myself with my own funding. I've learned lots and dont think I'll ever sell here even with the Love/Hate relationship we have!
I'm gonna go out on a whim and say i've got about 10k into the truck...and shes goin under the knife again this winter! Kenny

Had mine since '85. Bought it in Texas and almost lost it to rust here in Ohio. As far as money goes, I could've probably put a kid through college with the money I've spent. It ain't done, but it's getting there.

Creeping Up On 25 Years
Had mine for almost 25 years. Haven't invested much until the last year or so..Purchase price was $250..The man wanted $300 but the battery was dead. So we got a battery and he knocked the price to $250. I've spent about $6000 between the A/C, transmission and new motor I'm putting in right now. That would be on the low side.

I have had my 70 Chevy for 11 Years. I don't know how much I have spent on it but I do know the longer you have a truck it just seems to never get done.
