250/3tree to 305/200r4 swap???
Well my little 250 decided to snap a head bolt and blow a head gasket last night, so i figure this is a good time to swap over to a fresh 305 ive had built for the last year... so i know it would be easy to do the v8 conversion, but i also have a dual bolt bellhousing 2004r and was wondering what was all needed to do the swap to the overdrive trans... the truck is not aheavy hauler, but with 3.73's the OD would be nice to keep the revs down on the freeway... I have a 76 Silverado 350/TH350 donor truck to pull parts from.. thanks in advance... oh and its a 2wd....

Mike, visit this site, there you should find out everything you need to know to swap over to a OD trans. I purchased my 700 from them, and they were very helpful.
Not knowing the differences between the 200 and 700...I will tell you what you need for a 700. TV cable setup, dual pattern flexplate, and TC lockup wiring (optional?). You might also have to move your trans crossmember back, and you might need a new drivshaft or have yours modified. That is just a quick run thru, I am sure others will chime in and offer their advice as well. Good luck on the swap, and keep us posted.

Mike, I was more than pleased with Bowtie Overdrives. They were very helpful and were able to supply me with everything I needed.
TV cable without a kit, I am sure there is a way (check Jegs or Summit for the parts), but a kit is much more convienient to get a kit if you ask me.

If you change your mind about the 200R4, I'd be happy to take it off your hands for you.

If you or someone you know is handy with metal, you can make a bracket that the TV cable fits into. On my pickup, my dad made a bracket for the cable. It bolts directly to the accelerator cable bracket. Works really well.
