problems
a while back before i started working on my truck when i would start it, it would miss and die. when i would finally get it running the amp gauge was going wild and won't stop. i bought 2 new voltage regulators, new altenator, and a new battery and it still does it. somebody told me and my dad it might be a ground somewhere. i was wondering if anybody else has had this problem or might know how to fix it.thanks

It definately sounds like a ground. If you got a multimeter you can check the battery cable that goes to the alternator at the alternator and use the battery ground for the ground of the meter. If nothing else remove the battery ground cable and clean the bolt, cable end, etc. and try it. Also clean both battery cables at the battery as it sounds like it's a project vehicle that doesn't get started everyday.

I'd test the battery with a digital multi meter, and if it is charging properly, then I'd add good guages under the dash or in the stock holes. 32 year old guages suck IMO.
