Price? I have no clue as to what they run. I have been offered a complete stock 250 that smokes a little for extremely good price with a three speed. But they do not come up for sell here much so I have no way to figure what one would run. So spending wise I am kinda open. I do not mind paying for good stuff. I am not good at bargaining (ask anyone I have dealt with on this board) so this response is not a veiled response to get a steal of a deal.

Parts wise? I have a tired 305 in there now and I do not think any of the accesories are interchangable (correct me if I am wrong). I do not need air conditioner but I do have power steering. I would plan to replace the manifold, headers, and valve covers, and carb but stock ones would be a benefit until I could. HEI would be beneficial but not a deal breaker.

Basically, I want to build a truck that is a little different with a little different parts. So I am trying to get a good base to work from. A 292 would be preferable but a 250 would be okay.

Sorry Matt, with gas prices what they are, I'm not parting with any of my six cylinders.

Primered.....keep your ears open and post WTB on here a few times and some will fall into your lap. I let it be known that I wanted 6 cylinders, and I found a couple real easy, close by. Some guys don't care for them and are willing to part with them.

The 250 in my 68 is getting swapped for a big V8 soon. It's always ran good since I've had the truck (since 2000). The only work I've had to do is tune-up related stuff. I swapped a later model HEI/intake/exhaust (75-78), + replaced the fuel pump & starter while I was swapping the truck over to discs just after purchasing it. It would bolt up to your auto trans but is currently set up for a standard trans & no pwr. steering.

It's dirty, loves to gobble oil (requires a qt about every tankful if driven steady out on the hwy @ 3Krpm/65mph), but maintains about 25-30cold/10psi hot oil pressure. I drove it back & forth to Houston every thanksgiving holiday weekend w/only 1 fanbelt failure before parking it from trans/clutch related issues (it's been sitting since Aug). I'm in Rowlett, let me know if it sounds like what your after.
