Cost of replacement windshields, installed?

I can't tell if this is a good price or not.

My local glass company that I use all the time quoted me $218 for a new front windshield installed (with standard seal) and $169 for the rear (same) in the 68.

They also quoted me $80 front and $80 rear to install my glass with new seals. Are these prices OK? I will tackle every aspect of building this thing back up myself, EXCEPT for the glass install.

Seems to me the price to pay to have someone else do it AND have a warranty against leakage is good.

Two weeks ago, my dad paid a company $185 to install a tinted windshield. We already had the new gasket. When the installer was there he charged $15 to install the new rear slider (10 minute job since old slider was already out). We already had the new gasket. He and a helper pulled both wing windows and both door glasses and swapped in all 4 new pieces for $75 total. I was told by several people to ask the tech if he would be interested in making extra cash since he was there already and it worked out great.

I paid right around $200.00 installed and I supplied the gasket. I put a new back slider window into my 67 last night. Its not that difficult if you have help and use the rope method. I would pay someone to the front though !

Wow, the prices I got was from Elite in Fort Collins!! Guess I'll head north to get glass!! Might have to invite you down when I get to that point. Did you use any type of sealer, or just the bare rubber seal?

Don't know if you saw my other post or not, but I finally got the frame cut down. Going good so far!

Around here, it's about 120 to 130 installed.

I think I may need to do an FAQ on installing back windows. I don't want to see a member paying to have someone install theirs. That's money that could be better spent on truck parts.

I am amazed at the difference in prices around the country. Seems places are almost charging what they want.

I could do the rear probably, but for some reason, I get the jitters thinking about doing the front. Something to do with it leaking........

It's a deal, but don't load up and head south just yet. I might be at that point by spring if I am lucky!!!

I just had one installed last may. $115.00 installed and they even came to my garage and installed it there. The brand Pilkington. It's tinted with the real dark tinted band on top. I provided a new GM gasket. Is that great service or what?

I'm gonna be replacing my windsheild soon, so after reading this thread I called one of the local glass shops yesterday for a quick estimate. . . I almost dropped the phone!

$245 installed IF they can reuse the old gasket. Additional $65 for a new gasket.

After I picked my jaw up off the floor I told them thanks for the estimate and hung up, then turned around and ordered a $38.50 gasket from Wes. I'll call a smaller shop today and just price the windsheild its self. I think I can do the install myself A WHOLE LOT CHEAPER. At least thats what I keep telling myself.

You can do it self, you can do it self. . .
