Swaybars
While I was helping a friend swap rear ends on a 1 ton recently I liberated the sway bars from the donor truck. 1-1/4 front, and 1-1/16 rear.
 I put the front bar on last weekend. Because I'm running 2" drop coils on the front. I mounted it directly to the frame using no standoff brackets. The angle of attack of the bar to the lower control bar was much better without them. I used greasable neoprene bushings so it really tightend things up. Not that I'm going slalom racing anytime soon, but what a difference in handling. It's much more stable in the wind, especially at freeway speeds. I haven't mounted the rear bar yet. I'll need to fab some brackets that I can weld to the trailing arms, and I'll run the bar upside down to the rear.

I didn't know they had rear sway bars on trucks. That will be cool to see how you fabbed that in. Good score on the bars.

So when you put a bar on a lowered truck your not supposed to use the standoffs? My truck is lowered 3"s and i have heard bits and pieces about lowered trucks and swaybars but i wasnt certain
I was planining on installing it as soon as i get new bushings |

What year truck were you messing with? The only rear sway bars (stock) came on the P-30 trucks.

The bars came of of a 75 or so chassis that originally had a narrow axle for a service bed. I won't be using the leaf spring brackets. Instead I'll Make some bushing bracket's that I can attach to the trailing arms, and end link it to the chassis upside down and backwards
I think that the front bar sits at a much more natural angle to the control arm without the stands because of the 2" drop springs.

I read a thread yesturday,, or maybe the day before. I think it was in FAQ regarding sway bar instalation,, it was very detailed with lots of pics, and part #'s... They said you don't really need a rear one if your running coils, I think.

I have a stock rear swaybar here on a 78 GMC 2x 1ton. It's going to the scrap yard this coming week...
