Battery Cables

In process of redoing engine compartment (86 GMC) and original cables are just o/k. Now, I would like to do new ones (side post) but have a question.

Original posi. has two small leads and am not sure if this is required for new ones. I will be doing a single wire Alternator, where I will run a wire down to starter location for a clean look.

So, has someone done a really clean upgrade like this, do I need those additional leads on the cable, etc. I called Letric Limited and they will not even talkto me unless I have a 72 or earlier truck, so is there is good supplier for new cables.

Info. / suggestions appreciated.
