SWB frames

Do you guys know if al 55-59 SWB frame are the same? I was thinking we would buy a stock frame and either use a dropper front axle or aftermarket IFS for the 59 project. Instead of trying to make the hack job of a Nova clip work for us

Talking I hate ZEROS!

Dubie, all 1/2 ton frames - of the same wheel base - are the same for 55-59 Chevy... GMC is the same as Chevy EXCEPT for the front main crossmember (which would come out if you did an IFS anyways). The 3/4 ton frames are the same as 1/2 ton except for the springs are heavier in the front and rear (may have a helper spring set-up in the rear).

My two cents worth! rico_bob

Thanks for your 2 cents Bob. After I convert that into Canadian funds, I could probably retire
Would you happen to know of any place that sells the drop solid axle X member?

Mor-Drop has been around for ....about..40 years. But I don't think they have a website.. Take a look at
http://www.classictrucksweb.com/tech...traightxxlebb/ They say that A new and improved version of the dropped axle has recently come on the market. Introduced by Mid Fifty F-100 Parts last year, this modern dropped axle is fabricated with a 2-inch tubular steel center section. They also say: Classic Performance Products tell us that they hope to have '47-54 and '55-59 Chevy versions available by the time you read this.

I have seen quite a few GMC's with Chev grill's and tailgates as they are not reproduced, but this is the rarest because it also has the Chevrolet instruments!

I think this might be a great deal!

we had contimplated swapping front clips to a 55/56 Chevy, but after finding out how rare the GMC's are, we decided to keep it a GMC.

Take a look at this one, does something seem wrong?

A 58/59 fleetside box on a 55-57 truck. This truck is from the Edmonton area and I like it.

he calls the truck "Orange Crush" and you really can't see it well in this picture, but he pulls a small trailer with an orange crush cooler.
