yeah you got hosed for sure, but I'm not sure it's worth any more of your time and effort to try getting them to fix the problem, sounds like he's already denying it so.... you should be able to find another manifold for cheap and be done with it...

Paul, Definetly shut her down till you get the new manifold you can do tons of damage to the engine by letting that cool air in... That is the way my life with my 2 trucks is going the 72 is down right now for the right radiator to come in and then tonight on my 84 a brake line started leaking.... CRAP

Hmm, I really hope I didn't mess anything up with that drive home..
Oh well, she will stay shut off until I drive her down to the shop to be fixed. The boss said he would give me a break on running headers and dual exhaust, so I said what the heck.. I was gonna do it someday anyway. Thanks for the help, everyone.

Hay guys you cant blame the mechanic because the stuff he is working on is old and worn out. if he had loosened the bolt on the exhaust they would have broke and they would of had to charge you to pull the manifold and put new studs init and put it back in. not his fault!!!

I am not really blaming him.. I wouldn't have really been mad had he fessed up to breaking it. It was the full denial that sorta pissed me off..

His denial is very unethical. And also he should have known you were going to be driving back to the coast and how bad that could be on motor. The noise can't be missed so when he fired it off to move out of shop he would have known exactly what happened.

your right he should have been ounest about it.
my brother has a shop and he gets blamed for the rear end going out even if all he did was change the altinator.( just an exageration) he is ounest and would have told you the truth.he would have called you about it before you came to get it.

Patrick, seeing that we live in the same area, I'd like to know which shop, just in case I ever need some work done on mine. I realize there may not be much you can do now, but you can definitely bet I won't be willing to support a guy who is less than honest. You don't have to blast the guy, just simply post the picture, and the shop name, let the picture do the talking.

Most of us know that RH rams break about 10 to 1 over the LH. That is why they are always priced higher at swap meets & LH are all that is usually left for sale. Sure the trans guy broke it (or it just finally broke) when he let the engine down or up...anyway that break is so common that you will never win. Sorry about your hassle, but won't you be glad to be done with that trans shop? Consider a "new" manifold. They are not brittle, flanges are straight & the studs go in easy without the heating/drilling/tapping.
