I dragged my truck home about a year ago,, paid less for it than the new winsheild that's in it was worth.. so far I'm doin good. it runs ( it was a shell), and I've got less than $2,000. into it,, and that's Canadian dollars.. This project isn't gonna get out of hand,, I'm on a budget..I'm too old for crazy toys... No really, I'm not gonna spend a lot of money... it won't end up a trailer queen.. I mean it this time.

For the hot rod import thing you can make them fly but they won't live!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was the announcer at the local track for a fast import race and we would be expecting 20 cars back for the next round and might get 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's some serious breakage. one poor guy had a new mr2 it broke in the water on the first burnout and had to leave on the roll back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My truck is almost at a standstill, but at least I don't have much over top of the purchase price into it. I had to rebuild the front driveshaft when I got it, installed a slider, did a few other little things here and there.

Now it sits in the driveway, driveshaftless, transfer caseless, with a bad clutch, windshield, and starter, being held up with jack stands cuz the old tubes are getting shot, and the interior is stripped out. Its currently my storage shed for a lot of crap.

I have big plans for it, and I seem to be getting some consistently good deals on parts for it. I like to brag about that as much as possible, lol. Like the $150 Dana 60 front axle (that needs $1500 worth of parts to make it useable D'OH) or the free sm465/np205 combo, or my (soon to be) acquired $50 5.14 geared centersection for my Eaton. I can't wait to get out of college and start working on the project.

I've seen civics that pulled 9's or better in the quarter, but none of them were still FWD, and most of them weren't honda powered anymore (those that were used souped S2000 drivetrains).

I've also worked on modified hondas - a person at school paid me to help with his JDM prelude vtec engine into a '96 Civic swap. The car can light up the tires easy in third gear on a hard shift but can't hook up from stop or slow roll for crap, and is difficult at best to work on (I swear we needed a few gallons of KY jelly and a shoehorn to get the damn engine in there).

Another friend of mine i've known since grade school has a Nissan 240SX which I also helped on the engine swap (SR22DET red top from a JDM 180). The car is CONSTANTLY breaking things, hooks up descent (has IRS and posi from the 180), but still is only putting out 280-something horsepower with about 15k invested. The car is fast (when its running and all the gears are able to be shifted into - its killed 2 trannies already) but its also stripped down, no window regs, no door panels, barely a dash, no backseat, no interior...Maybe I'm just picky but my stock '70 Malibu I paid $1300 for, stock turbo-fire 250 horse 350 (complete with points) and TH350 was almost as fast and a lot more comfortable and nice to ride in - not some fast, stripped down sardine can. And it suprised a lot of modified riceburners in my area.

Got a bass/duck boat... Need a fishin/huntin buddy! If he had extra truck parts that would be a plus.

trucks

It isnt cheap building trucks, especially the body shop, paint isnt cheap either, I think its almost better buying one thats done than restoring one..

when I bought mine I intended it to be a work truck.I figured maaaaybe I'd pull it in the garage and change the trashed dash pad that the PO had glued a tin can on top of......I dunno.
Anyhow, the cab and box will be lifted off this week and the chassis trailered to the farm so I can strip it down, blast and paint it on weekends. In the evenings during the week I'll work on the cab in my garage here.
What happened here??
