Any Body know where I could get what I need for my 1971 chevy C10 5-lug. Would prefer 3.08 - 3.55:1 ratio.
Thanks, Frank |

posi
I have one for $250 (firm). It's a 3.08 posi out of a 71. Complete rear. Brian

Thanks for the reply.
Is it a five lug avle unit? Coil or leaf spring unit? Do you know the condition or type of posi unit? How can you determine if it is a Dana 60? |

posi rear
The rear I have is a 71 5 lug rear. Dana 60 is a 3/4 ton rear. Posi appears to be in decent shape. Truck had 80k miles on it. I didn't apply a torque set-up to see what the slippage was on the posi unit.

Thanks for the reply.
I asked several people what a Dana 60 was. They did not know. What is the actual terminology to describe the rear in these trucks? Are they referred to a Chevy 12 bolt? I am agonizing over replacing only the diff unit or the complete housing. I think that the breakaway torque on a chevy posi is 75 ft/lb. Thanks again, Frank |

rear
Correct. The rear is a 12-bolt. I've done them both ways (swapping and just doing the diff). Brian
