Buckets - 69/70 VS 71/72

I understand that their is a very slight difference between the buckets for 69/70 VS 71/72. I know that the replacement foam is listed separately and apparently the 69/70 seat is slightly taller. I've been told that a 71/72 cover will not fit quite properly on a 69/70 bucket and vise versa.

The reason I ask is that if I purcahse 69/70 buckets for my 72 and I cover them with 71/72 patterned covers that are made to fit 69/70 buckets (houndstooth), is there a visibble difference once installed?

The height is the same, only the shape of the foam is slightly different. If you do them in Houndstooth, they are custom anyway. Only you & I will know.

Thanks Pickmup. So if I recover 69/70 buckets with houndtooth covers meant for 71/72 buckets, the fit will be decent without sags, extra material, etc? Or should I forget the 69/70 buckets and get the correct 71/72 buckets? The whole endeavor (seats, covers, foam) is expensive and I want the result to be worthwhile .

NO. Dual Qual, read your post. Doesn't it say you have 69-70 buckets and Houndtooth covers for 69-70? They will look fine in your 71-2 truck---BUT---you cannot put 71-2 covers on 69-70 seats. Any clearer?

Thanks Pickmup, sorry for the confussion. You are correct, I initially posted re: 69/70 houndstooth covers on 69/70 buckets. But as went back and looked over some suplier catalogs, I did not see any 69/70 bucket covers offered in houndstooth. Only 71/72 covers seem to be available in houndstooth.

So I guess the appropriate question now would be, do you know who supplies 69/70 bucket covers in (71/72 style) houndstooth?

Thanks

I can get them (69-70 Houndstooth) custom made, but they are slightly higher than the more common produced 71-2 that you are seeing in the catalogs.
Email or PM with details and I will get a price for you.
