Cab Differences

On a previous post with pictures someone noted the cab was not even the right for the year. I think it was a 70 cab on a 72 model. Since my cab was rusted enough on my 72 I got another cab off a 70. The only difference I could see was the 72 has Vents or Pressure Relief Devices in the door pillars, while the 70 did not. Can anyone enlighten me on the differences? Currently I have a rolling chassis and soon going to be getting the cab together again, so I was wondering if I am going to have problem taking 72 parts and putting them in the 70 cab. You will have to convert the gas pedal linkage, 71 72 used cable 67-70 used the rod. It will be a little bit of work if you want it to look stock.

Rearview mirror mounts to cab 71 down....in 72 they started glueing them to the windshield

That was me that noticed the 69/70 cab on the 72. It was the gas pedal. On the 71/72, (cable operated throttle) the pedal is suspended from the top, not touching the floor. I noticed that pic showed the pedal mounted to the floor. And since it didn't have the 67/68 hand operated parking brake, I knew it was a 69/70 cab.
There are differences in the heater box somewhere in the line up, plastic to metal, but I am unsure of the specifics.
71 was the only year to have a raised punting pad on the sheet metal just over the windshield for the rear view mirror.

I am wanting to put a 71 GMC cab on my 69 swb chevy is this going to be a problem? Can I just use the cable linkage that is in the 71 or will i have to switch to the rod?

i have a ? is 1 ton cabs the same as 1/2 ton cabs they look the same to me

It's my belief that all one tons had cab lights on the roof.

If so, definitely different. The cab lights set on raised pads stamped into the roof skin.

Nope, not true.
The one ton with 9 foot step, and one tons with the 8 1/2 foot fleet did not require clearance lights.

it was optional on all 10 - 30 trucks.
i do think it was a required option on all cab/chassis...bit I'd have to look to be 100% sure.
