Transmission crossmember

Has anyone used Early Classics new transmission crossmember??? Is it worth the money?

i think http://www.performanceonline.com has the same thing for less money. i have one but it is not installed yet. i will be using it when i do my motor/tranny swap. it looks good.

I got a deal on EBAY for $45.00 Shipped, plus its from Brothers, can't complain. They say they are sooooooo much better b/c you can re-route the exhaust pipes other then stock. But me too haven't installed it yet.

Too bad they didn't address the swingarm length/location issue while they were making this shiny new part. For those of you who are VERY low, you'll notice that your rear axle has shifted forward in the wheelwell. They could have fixed that with the bolt-on pivot points on their crossmember. At least, since they're bolt-on, you can make your own spacer and pitch their hardware in favor of some longer bolts.

hey XXL, could you explain more in detail what you mean. i don't know what you are referring to as far as the "swing arm". at first i thought you were talking about the trailing arms, but now i'm not sure. help me out here bro'

Yes, trailing arms. Since they pivot from a single point, they do so in an arc. If you raise the truck way up or lower it way down, the rearend moves forward. So you end up with wheels that aren't centered in the wheel opening.

Hey guys... I just got my crossmember via UPS today... it looks sick! I can't wait to install it.. It was pretty expensive I think by the time it got over the border with the shipping charges but I'm hoping it will all be worth it. I'll keep you updated on how it's install goes and if it works like I think it is supposed to.

has anyone modified their crossmember/trailing arms to correct the centering problem? if so, what approach did'ja take. i've never dropped a 67-72 lower than 3 inches so i've never encountered this "phenomenon". i gotta go out to the shop now to conjure up something on this subject as i am planning to get about 2 to 3 inches from the ground on this next build-up.

are we talking anout the transmission crossmember or the trailing arm crossmember?

dylan - if you are talking about the trailing arm member i would like to know how the install goes (with pictures) and how you like it

i have the transmission member but it is not in yet.

Is this one painted or powdercoated? I bought mine from Early Classic for $89, unfinished. I like the design.

I'm talking about the transmission crossmember. I still have to figure out all of the parts i'm going to need to get it ready for the air ride suspension. I don't know if i'm going to need a trailing crossmember or not. If anyone has any info on this I could use it to help me decide if i need to get one. As for my Transmission crossmember... It is powdercoated. The next purchase is probably going to be the shock mount relocators. here is a pic of my truck.

Oh ya... that pic is one without any springs in the rear of the truck at all. I took them out to see how low it would sit... Just for fun. I'm hoping I'll get it lower than that after the C-notch and air ride installation.

ChevyCruizer. I was wondering if you put lowering blocks between the axel and the trailing arms if that would fix the problem with your track bar? I'm still having trouble figuring out which parts I need to properly lower my truck on air.
