AC/power steering mount w/ headers
I apologize if this is a dead horse. I searched and found only replies for early trucks with this problem. I need to add headers to my truck because the block I used was early and my truck is '86 and alas no dipstick. I am trying to figure out which ac bracket I need that will also allow for the power steering adjustment. I am sure it is a typical part but I am a computer guy and thus have now idea where to look to make sure I order the correct parts. The bracket I am needing replaces the AC mounting bracket that used the exhaust mani bolt near number 1 Cyl.

Is the 86 model a long pump or a short one?

you can use the original bracket and just cut the ear that goes over the pipe off. and still use the front mounting bolt.
here is a thread with pics that may help you out... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=109774 Last edited by Prerunner1982; 10-27-2004 at 05:52 PM. |

So are you not going to put that bracket back on? If you are not or if anyone has an extra one I would like to buy it so I can get it ready before I have my truck apart. Pre do you live at 15th and Kelly in Edmond? I used to live in that neighborhood and I remember a white SWB.

I want to get one and then mod it and get it power coated and have it ready when I get ready to do my swap. That way I dont have to either have the truck in pieces for long or hurry and do the mod. I figure there are plenty of these laying around from people ditching their AC but I might be wrong. If I cant find one here I am sure I can get one from a junk yard.

yeah, i have seen many at caseys CCC, maybe pull a part but there werent as many 73-87s there. i like pull a part better cause you can get what you want... the other places i have been can be pissy and try to sell you the whole front clip if all you need is a light bezel.
