the one on the fuel inlet side is the fast idle for the choke. the other i'm not sure it may control the the tension on rear lower butterflies.the vaccuum port is for the spark advance

Spark advance? Would it have been used for a vac modulator?

Checked my 66 Impala w/327 that has a Qjet and that vac port is indeed used for the vacuum advance unit.

The item in the first pic on mine is the "gizmo" used for the fast idle. I believe this part may also stop the secondaries from opening if the choke is still on. (cold engine) Not 100% sure on that though.

The transmission modulator line on goes to a block screwed into the intake in between the distributor and carb. My power brakes also connect there.
