crew cab mileage?

Im looking at buying a 1976 crew cab 454 400 what kind of mileage might I get?With gas over $2.30 a gallon Just wanted to know if its worth it.Thanks

it really depends on the gearing and tire size. i can tell you this, its not going to be any better than 8 or 9

A buddy of mine swore he always got 10 mpg no matter what. He said, "loaded or unloaded it gets 10mpg". My guess is it might be lower....

I have an 83 Crew Cab Dually with a 454 TH400 and 4.10 gears. I get anywhere from 6-10 mpg. It's true that load doesn't really affect mileage, for me its more of fuel quality and whether I'm pulling hills or not. (Going back and forth from Seattle to Bozeman, Montana you see some good hills...)

Needless to say, I don't drive that truck unless I need to. I bought it for the sole purpose of knowing I won't break it pulling my car trailer. Some day (or $omeday as Ken says) I'd love to swap in a Duramax...
