All I can say to you is...

My welding skills are WELL below average and are quite honestly... UGLY...

I'm having fun learning the process though and that's what counts...

Here are some pictures for your pointing and laughing pleasure...

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

I found a nice bedside to replace my "Bonnie & Clyde" drivers side one...

The lower rear needs to be replaced, but I plan on cutting off the one currently on the bed now to fix it...

Cutting wheels and welders, gotta' love that combo...

I also found a neat little tool on the cheap that may come in handy as well...

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

My girls got some really cool presents for my birthday recently...

After some more metal work, I'm planning to have a block party...

Perhaps if the party doesn't get out of hand I may get to lay down some color by the summer or fall...Depends on the motivation I'm able to muster up...

"What color is in the can?" you ask... Summit Hot Rod Flat Orange...

Not sure. I was at nifty fifths Saturday night and saw quite a few of our trucks there.

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

The hardest part of prepping for paint & body work is...

Knowing you can't go for a cruise in your hot-rod when you feel like it...

I'm in the process of taking it all down to bare metal so I know the foundation for my beater is good to lay paint on...

The following picture is the result of what happens when a "Square Body" guy comes to help you check the air pressure in your front tires...

Uh... Can you say the process is going "Backwards?"

I've got the front clip all stripped to metal, just have to "blast" the crevices & spray epoxy on it...

Can you say, "Boring pictures?"

They call it body work because it's NOT body fun...

Hell, I've never seen a filler panel there at the bottom of the core support, and I've owned four of these trucks! It's lookin' great, your work looks nice. If I may, get some slick sand at the paint store. They'll know what it is. Really thick primer, makes blocking in after mudwork really easy. Keep with it!

It seems I've had a change of direction on my beater since my last computer time...

Since I am a good ol' boy/redneck...

I've decided I wanted a Jeep instead of a C-10...

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

OK,OK,OK....

I'm Not Really serious about the Jeep part...

Truth be told, The guv-ment been acting REEL IGNERT as of late & I cant do anything but, eat, work, and sleep for a short while...

No complaints, it pays for the bills and the toys, however...

All work & no play makes this boy dull & ornery...

I scored a couple days off and I had these grandiose ideas of replacing the rocker panels over the holiday weekend...

My old friend "Murphy" showed up to crash my party...

Whats the old saying ?

The more you grind the more you find...

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

Sooooooooo..........

The parts are on the way for another day/late night of fun some time in the hopeful near future... Maybe... Someday...

In the mean time I have the wonderful pleasure of replacing the accelerator diaphragm on my carb, since mean old "Mr. Ethanol" decided to eat it up prematurely... YEAH !!!!!

I might as well replace the header gaskets I've had hanging around for a while since my plans got put on a slight detour...

Since the carb is coming off, I decided to replace my garage built throttle linkage with a nice adjustable one...

The double 90 degree rod worked just fine with the exception of not being able to attain WOT...

Since I love the speed limit I am looking forward to that whole WOT thing when this rust bucket gets bolted back together...

So you have time instead to do rust removal. It all has to happen sooner or later. Got a pic of the purple bike?

Nuthin but a step for a stepper! I would recommend though, buy the kit and rebuild your hinges (easy), then reinstall and reset your doors before committing on your rocker welds. You'd be surprised how far off the rockers can be. Better to fit the package.

Thanks for the tip...

The hinges on this truck are super tight with not a bit of play...

I agree...

The hanging of the doors before final weld in of the rockers is a must...

What can I say... I'm a glutton for punishment I suppose...

I'm anxious for the "later", when this thing is all one color for a change...

Oh, yeah... Per your request...

Here are a few of my other rides, for your viewing pleasure...

This one is a 63' Schwinn Sting-Ray...

It's all original except the seat, sissy-bar and pedals...

It was my father in laws bike when he was a kid...

The deal was, I give him $200 or he gives it to me free on a coin toss...

I won the toss...

This one is all the kids in the hoods favorite one...

It's an all original 70' Schwinn De-Luxe Twinn 5 Tandem...

Scored this one from its original owner for cheap...

This one is my main ride...

My wife got me this one. as an anniversary present...

She had them wheel it out to me during dinner @ Benihana's...

The whole place tripped out including me...

This beast has 8" of suspension travel front & rear, Hayes disc brakes and monster 3" wide Maxxis tires...

Run over a parking curb and you hardly notice...

Gonna strip this one down and have it painted the same color combo as the truck so I can strap it in the bed @ cruise nights & shows...

All insane bikers need a riding buddy with them at all times...

Here is my minion...

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

Love the bikes and the minion. hahaha

I just picked up a green 1970 Schwinn Bantam at a flea market for $20. It was all original, but a little beat up. I'm going to build it to match the Jimmy and look more like the sting ray. The rear tire was shot, and the front not great either, and since the Jimmy is total low buck the Schwinn will be the same, so rather than spend $50 on new tires, tubes and rim strips I found a 20" bike at a garage sale for $5 to swap wheels and tires with. The new ones have black rims too which is perfect for where I'm going with it. And it has taller handle bars which are nice too. I'll sell the original Schwinn stuff so someone can use it and I get my money back out of it. I will get a cross bar for it to convert it to the boy bike version.

Nice...

That is a sweet score for $20 bucks...

Don't see too many of those either...

You mainly see the Rays & cruiser...
