Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
T.J. that will be hard to do if it just keeps on sitting... I think I'm gonna slap it together for now and get it road worthy and enjoy driving it some til my funds get replenished to
buy some more sheet metal....

Good plan Randy. get er on the road and have some fun, might even get your son motivated. If nothing else it might get you more motivated lol. wheels look nice---one piece at a time.

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
well finally got that corner welded in, and the door adjusted for now... I have to go back now and mud everything in now... glad to get this much done.. As I don't move like I used to.. I just don't have the gumption I used to have..It must be age I'm 48 now...
I have all the front end back on except the hood.. After I get the corners mudded in then I can put the bed back on and it might look like a truck again....

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
let's see got out there this evening and adjusted my clutch so it's letting half way up instead of right off the floor easy fix, replaced my return line for power steering. And another small coat of mud on the rear corners.... I need to clean out all the tools in the seat and in the floor boards it makes it hard to find what I'm looking for... sorry no pixs...
unless you want to see a pix of me....Yikes... I tried to change but couldn't... This is me cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway in Floyd Co. Va....

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
OK finally got the rear cab sanded....
got to do some mudding this thing has more little dings than I thought there everywhere. I think that once I get the top side sanded and painted white then I'll paint the backside of cab. Going to do it in stages as I get them ready...This is just going to be a driver anyway....

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Start spreading the news I mean Bondo, Mudd, Plastic feeler, whatever you want to call it
this is the part that I hate....spread it on sand it off spread it on sand it off... wax on wax off wax on wax off.... well you know the story...this is the tedious stuff I hate but it has to be done in order to look descent....yada yada yada... Ok that's enough....

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
I agree, I can take weeks making sure every aspect of building an engine is "perfect" and getting it done, even smoothing the block but bodywork, can do but so tedious, can hardly take it. Thumbs up buddy on your muddin job..

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Hang in there Randy! Once you're done and you spray it you'll look back and be glad you reskimmed and resanded so many times. But if not you'll be kicking yourself for not doing it just one more time.
So get back to work!

I did it so many times and still have waves and some small dents. make sure you have a long board when blocking.

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
So true. I thought my doors were looking sweet until I painted them. Then I could see the little imperfections. But I'm okay with it because it's a driver not a showpiece.
