Drove it out to the property Saturday to check on and feed the cow.

Installed a heater to my truck. It's nice no longer having to bundle up just to go drive around. =]

Removed Q-jet due to condensation or fuel?? Puddling on top of intake at base of carb, found all airhorn attaching screws at least 1/2 turn out, and intake runners completely soaked, also loosened fuel line clips along frame rail to move them away from headers. After reinstallation ,puddling still exists. How do I begin a new thread? I have a question about my water pump, can anyone determine from this view if the water pump pictured is a standard or reverse rotation pump?

Hard to say?, Suggest running the part number to see if you have a match on the later model years.

Sometimes accomplished using Napa, or other parts stores website, or even Google.

Replaced the wiper switch and floor dimmer switch on the 67 GMC this weekend. Wipers work again but sprayer still doesn't even after a new pump. More investigation needed. Also installed a new passenger vent window glass. Tried to adjust the brake light switch but couldn't get to it without installing an extra joint in my arm.

Thanks. That pic came out better than I thought it would. And the truck came out as dirty as I thought it would! Haha

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Got the valves properly adjusted, and buttoned everything back up. Went to go for a test drive, and found an issue with the trans. Have an idea what it is, should have it corrected soon.

To review, I have now converted the fuel pump, and cooling fan to electric, the Summit cam is broken in, and the Vortec heads are working well. The long tube headers breathe nicely through the Magnaflows I have, and everything seems to be balanced just fine.

Here's a quick video.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

You all shamed me into going out, removing the cover, cleaning Rat up a little, and starting her up.

Operating temp, a few wipes inside, and back into the house for me.

Tough day....

Gotta get out there and switch out my electric fuel pump...
And, oh, probably time for a starter.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Baby steps..... At some point, the truck had a camper shell on it and someone had removed the backglass and installed some sort of "seal" (for lack of a better term) as a "go between" between the cab and the now covered bed. The camper shell was removed and the backglass had to be reinstalled, but when they did, they used the solid rubber seal and not the one w/the chrome trim. A lot of words to let you know I removed the backglass, cleaned up the window opening and reinstalled backglass using a chrome trim gasket, which BTW, was an original, at least 43 years old and it went in like a hot knife thru butter. Maybe an hour job....

That's nice to hear. I have to do the same. Have yet to remove it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

A few weeks back I noticed my ECE drop spindles had accumulated some surface rust whilst sitting around waiting for me to use them

Since not much else can be done to the truck at the moment, I attacked the spindles with the wire wheel and angle grinder .... then gave them half a dozen coats of Eastwood's Diamond Clear Gloss Finish for Bare Metal.

Looks good. Only time will tell how well this stuff holds up.

Used nearly a full can on the pair, though I was outdoors so some may have been carried away by the breeze.

Finished up mounting the braided lines on the rear axle. I love it when an idea comes together.
