to clear this up...the best way to find out how much drop you have is to measure the center of your axle (center of the wheel) to the bottom of the rear fender well opening.

mine has a 4 inch drop and i measure 13 inches from fender well opening to center of my axle.

ford assassin, if you measure 12 inches, than you have a 5 inch drop which i would consider close to the drop of a flip on stock equiptment.

mine never hits with a 4 inch drop but if i went 5 i would probably hit going over railroad tracks...

keep in mind, these are blazers and 2 or 3 people in the back seat will definitely hit axle with a flip!

Re: How many 2wd Blazer do we have?

Alright... I'll bite. Long time lurker, but I picked this up about a year ago... Have been busy dealing with electrical issues on it/tuning it up, but will either be bagged or convert the static drop to coil overs in the future with an LS drivetrain . Factory 2wd 77 - Mild 350, 700R4 - working factory A/C. Lifetime AZ truck, so minimal rust... and yes, all of the moldings/handles/side marker lamps have been shaved and airbrushed back on by the previous owner. (plans to change that are in the future):

Re: How many 2wd Blazer do we have?

Thanks guys! Interior was gutted by p/o and was in the beginning stages of being covered in dynomat. It did come with a rear seat not installed and 2 sets of bucket seats (tall backs are from a thunderbird i believe.. and the low backs are from a 75 suburban if i'm not mistaken).

and here is the rats nest of an engine bay in case you're curious.. i've been working on cleaning this up

I don't know about you, but I'd be stoked to have the body done and get to finish out the interior in the color and style you want. What are your plans for it? Red/blue/tan/black? Red?

LOL.. I am pretty stoked about that... although I would eventually like to go a different route with the paintwork (probably gloss black)... but with the interior I keep changing my mind from black/red to just black... I'm trying to keep my toy ADD in check.. haha

Two-tone red/black? All red is loud, for the longest time I didn't like it but have come to love it. It shows well, you can see all the detail better when it's finished out. Whatever you do, keep us posted, beautiful truck.

Thanks man! I wasn't a fan of Red/Black until I bought my STS-V.. .and I can't get it out of my mind ever since.. lol

(picture doesn't do it justice).

I will probably start a build thread eventually.. right now i just have the pictures of when i bought it, and some pictures of me pulling out all of the excess wiring/dual battery setup.

Thanks again for the kind words!

Re: How many 2wd Blazer do we have?

Here's a pic of the 1982 Jimmy 2wd we bought in North Carolina in the spring. Apparently a couple years ago it was two tone silver and blue. The 22's are growing on us. Third pic is the Jimmy beside my lifted Blazer.

And it isn't my first rodeo either I've had 10 square body 2wd blazers. 6 of those had flip kits, so in response to the question that was asked, Yes you will need a notch.......unless you want to change a bunch of stufff, in which case you may not need it. But if you put on a 6" suspension lift you won't need one either, but that wasn't the question was it?

He said he did a 2wd conversion. The 2wd and 4wd have different hangers both at the front and rear of the leaf spring. They are about 2-3" longer ( hang lower) on the 4wd so a flip would net you 2-3" less than a comparable 2wd setup. So he may get by without a notch.

Thanks! I will most likely end up doing just that. - At least for the foreseeable future . I would love the gloss black, but this is worth keeping until I happen to have a bunch of cash that I can't seem to find anything else to do with it.
