Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

That's the plan...There getting ready to have a big car/truck show down in Pigeon Forge where we were. There were actually some cars and trucks already there guess they have it all week, I've never been when they have so I don't know, but did see a lot of c/10's and a 63 4x4 that was sitting on another frame...Everytime I saw an old car I thought about mine...it will be missed....

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

Well it's Christmas time at my house I had my truck stuff come in today, Fenders, Inner fenders, window rubber, and lotsa small stuff.. Me and my son went and just tried a fender just to see how close it was with the old inner fender. it's fairly close I have to wait on my radiator support kit to come in and prolly gonna have to move the bottom of support out as right now it's kinda at an angle. I think I need to rework that area for it to fit properly, remember this body is sitting on a different frame. I will have to get everything test fitted before any paint...I will keep you posted as I test fit the panels...
All the parts seem to be Tri-plus

Ordered from LMC Truck

the gap in the front where the inner piece at the front seems to have a wide gap but I think I can massage it better...

until next time...

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

Randy--looks like they fit pretty good. Remember they weren't perfect from the factory. If i remember right my triplus fit and the other brand had to be modded.this was the odd-ball brand for info.

one more step--looking good---------kimble

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

I hear ya Jason, My fenders and inners were pretty bad and finding Good OEM around here is like hunting for chicken teeth if ya know what I mean...I wouldn't been able to buy new stuff If I hadn't sold my car...It's raining here to day just the morning part then suppose to clear up and only be in the 70's so I'll get out there and strip the front end back off and try to get something done...

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

well I got out there today and got some stuff done, got the brackets mounted for the rear E-brake cables to mount to. And sanded and painted the E-brake handle that mounts in the truck and painted the cable as well, got the new speedo cable hooked up, was going to try to zero it back with a drill, well that was a joke it would have taken forever so forget that. I did get the radiator support bushing kit in the mail today but I didn't get to do any sheet metal work.. Once I get the E-brake stuff done then hopefully I can lay some paint on the backside of cab and then I can set the bed back on it. I'm debating whether to go ahead with the new sheet-metal or keep the old stuff on there for now and run it this winter and put the new on this spring.. Ok randy I think you should run the old stuff for now and the put the new on this spring...I guess it will depend on how much I get done before it get's too cold on me...Just keep on Truckin'

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

Well I got out there and tried some new sheetmetal......I knew I was going to have to do some modifying around the steering box, so that went ok, got the grill panel mounted all the holes on it lined up pretty good on the front end of inner panel... and the holes on the new fender lined up pretty good on the front end inside lower front on the grill panel..

ran into problems where the top of fender meets the inner panels one maybe two lined up

then the driver side was waaaaaaaaaay off...

I unbolted it from the firewall in order for it to move over to meet the fender, I think this was tweaked alittle.. So if I can't tweaked it back some then I may just drill some new holes in the firewall to bolt it to.. As I said this is going to be my daily driver not even a cruise in truck...

After I took the driver side loose from firewall all the holes in top of the fender lined up, but the passenger side I'll have to drill new holes because they don't line up worth a hoot.. but I knew that nothing is made like it was original...I guess I'd rather drill a few holes then have all the rust to try to fix....Oh well til next time...

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

Nothing much to report other than trying to align everything up so I can get the hood back on and finally have the mock up for the bumper to be mounted and then weld the exhaust back on then set the bed on and try to get a sticker then tags, then atleast it will be ready if I need it for snow...been raining here a lot and haven't been able to work on it...

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

By George I got that left inner fender lined up to the firewall there's more than on way to skin a cat I had to use a bottle jack underneath the inner fender and jack it up and then was able to use a screw driver to slide it over to get a bolt in and then the other side,Btw 61K10 this inner fender was the oddball brand that you posted up Apec or something like that I didn't notice until I was getting rid of the boxes..I took the cover off the horn relay to look at it and it's burned up so I ordered one and it will be in tomorrow, also on the inner fender the passenger side used the regular 9/16 bolt heads for the hood hinge and the driver side I couldn't get the bolts to go in and they were 1/2 bolt heads...go figure..
I'm off tomorrow so I'm gonna try to get the exhaust on and then and then and then and then...I'm getting real itchy about driving this thing....

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

well I got her throwed together Ha,Ha..

Note to self don't forget to bolt the bed down... I took the altenator back to the store to get it checked out and it was fine, I have a new voltage regulator new horn relay and it's still not charging I swear if it ain't ten things it's 12...But I will say this it's came a long way since 2012, Oh and I got my exhaust all welded up and on and she's quiet..Purrrr Purrrr... I forgot how heavy that bed was me and my son took it off and put it back on and I think it gained some weight while it was off.... I may have to run a ground from the engine to the frame somewhere that might be why it's not charging...Hmm I'll have to think about that one...Oh and it's suppose to get down in the 50's this weekend and a frost warning at night...

well hopefully soon can you believe I still have stuff to do. Imagine that. gotta get new wiper blades gotta check the gear oil in tranny and transfercase, bolt the bed down, gotta do some grounding on the engine to the frame that might be why it's not charging..gotta go through the lights make sure there working, still need to mount the bumper..So prolly another good day and she may be ready for some tags and sticker..

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

I think I'm gonna have to rebuild the carbatator. It still has a hesitation. I had rebuilt the top side a while back but didn't go all the way through it guess I'm going to have to now, It'll run fine for a while then acts like it runs out of gas, then It will fire right back up..Might be a sticky float...Oh well it's always something with this old stuff but that's what it's about to see what I can fix...always tinkering..Oh and got the charging system going now so check that off the list...I already have a load of stuff to take to the goodwill..
