It's been awhile since I've been back to check out this thread. You've made a lot of progress. I was thinking, this guy responds to every comment, why not mine? I went back and looked at it and maybe it wasn't clear. The shrapnel I referred to was this picture. And back aways you had mentioned you had been driving it but you never talked about what it was like to drive. So that was the nature of the question about that.

Thanks for checking back in. Yes, there have been a few piles of shrapnel while doing the rebuild. I have driven the truck but on small test drives checking how it runs, stops and looking for leaks, and damn the transmission pan has a drip.

Just a little body work getting done. I'm starting to understand the cost of my body/paint quotes.

Re: My winter project

Getting close with the bodywork and the primer is on repairs. I put the oil fill tube on and that was more fun than bodywork.

Re: My winter project

Good progress on the body work. Can you say what you used to paint the air cleaner? That is a very nice sheen. A little flatter than most.

Thank you. The paint is (low-gloss) black in the high heat type I have used it on other parts on the blazer.
I did get the side glass in the top.

Re: My winter project

I have a beat-up lower door trim and some leftover chrome paint. I know it's not show quality but this will work until I can find a decent original.

Re: My winter project

Great work on the bodywork. It's definitely my least favorite thing to do.

Trim is looking good!

Good luck, Rg

Re: My winter project

I fought the hatch glass because it would not set right. So it turned out the raptor liner coat was a little thick, trimmed and sanded a bit and it right went in.

Re: My winter project

I have the bodywork at the point I'm happy with. I moved the Blazer to a shop that has enough room so I can start taking it apart for paint.

Not sure of the years of trucks. Keeping dust and or dirt out of the hinge area maybe. How well do they work I'm not sure, they were there so putting them back.
