Re: Project OverKill

Thanks guys...I like it too! A big thanks to GMC Pauls and Amber...they supplied the 68-71 original style BBC motor mounts at the best price I could find on the net! A nutter piece to the puzzle. Engine to be going in the frame soon!

Second pic shows mount without the rubber block that goes underneath the engine tower. It also shows where I
need to touch up some orange spots, LOL!

Re: Project OverKill

The second Edelbrock #60559 Head was purchased 4-11-08...kind of a Happy Brithday to me, from me, for me, type of deal, LOL! Yep, 50 grand old years old on the 11th, WOW hard to believe. Second head will be here on Tuesday the 15th, so says Jegs. I am almost done buying all the parts for this beast of a motor. Still need the mechanical solid roller lifters, push rods, and possibly valve springs and that really is it, I have the 1.7 roller rockers. The heads are complete, but with a .652 lift solid cam I need to check with Edelbrock to make sure the springs on these heads can handle it. Of course, pics to follow.

Next purchase...Mechanical roller lifters: COMP CAMS ENDURE X MECHANICAL LIFTERS BBC 819-16 expensive, but to be expected when you are building a solid roller BBC. Shipping is probably not really free, but built into the price, LOL.

Re: Project OverKill

TY! Engine is actually Chevy Orange, Dulpi-Color DE1620. Can't wait for the last head to get here and finish the engine. Kinda like building a model...just a little more expensive, LOL!

Re: Project OverKill

Thanks Larry!

Second head arrived today! Had to set em' up for a pic. I'm diggin' it! Disassembled & powder coated the 1050 Dominator Carb float ends in Chevy Orange and of course reassembled them. Fuel line and all fittings will be black. No red & blue & stainless on this ride.

Re: Project OverKill

msgross or Mike , Thank You! I have never owned a BBC, so I am thrilled with the way this motor is looking. Being able to Powder coat, Paint, and or GatorHyde at the shop is a huge plus. Just having the shop space to work on my trucks is also super. Thanks again.

Re: Project OverKill

Thanks Mike! ECE Big Block 2" front drop springs arrived yesterday looking good other than the terrible looking black finish. Not sure if it is paint or Powder, so I soaked them in a chemical stripper immediately. They should be ready for me to powder coat them today in Gloss Mirror Black! Pics to follow. With the front springs here and soon to be PC'ed, this means I can get the 2.5" drop spindals installed, rotors, calipers, steering components, and basically finish the front end ready for rims and tires!

Yes Mike, that is a complete wooden floor Short bed from GMC Pauls. I bought it complete with all the parts minus the tailgate (I have a mint original tailgate). I was told by Les before he left GMC Pauls that all the sheet metal is TriPlus and that it will fit together nicely. I am going to assemble it soon.

Thanks Lee! Lil' Red is not home yet. I have to change the oil pan gasket , which I am doing this Sat. Freekin' gasket is leaking, going with a Fel-Pro Blue one piece this time. Northglenn Auto is letting me use one of there lifts this Sat. Then LR will go home.

I'm leaning towards picking a set up, my SWB sides need a lot of work on the insides... When able can you snap a pic of the inside panels of the new sides? Nobody ever shows those, I need to get a good picture of how bad mine really are! Thanks..

Re: Project OverKill

Disassembled Blasted and newly coated calipers NIC powder Chevy Orange. New rotors powder coated in gloss black where they are all prone to rust. New ECE 2" big block drop springs were striped, blasted and PC'ed in gloss black to match.
