Project OverKill
I decided to do a build thread because lots is going to happen with this truck. It maybe be looked at as "slow project OverKill" , that's OK, but if I do a build thread I will stay focused and not have pics strewn all over the board. The 1st pic is how she was 13 days before I bought her for $960.00 delivered to my shop on 6-28-07. She started life as a long bed and is soon to being going under the knife, shredding a few pounds, and beginning a new life as a Short Bed!

Re: Project OverKill
Yes...I dialed the phone # I found under the gas tank. A lady answered, I said "You don't know me and I'm not selling anything, just wondered if you used to own a red and white 1968 Chevy pickup"? She says "Yes we used to own one, it was my husbands. My husband was given the truck by his aunt when his uncle died. It spent most of it's life in a barn in North Dakota."
Told her I have it now and it is being completely restored. She said her husband may want to see it when it's done. Cool huh.

Re: Project OverKill
I was really impressed by how little brown crusty stuff there is. The floor looks really solid. And....moving to the front. Fenders and grill will be removed next.

Re: Project OverKill
You will now thank the state of ND for not using salt on their roads. I may not when I'm driving in February, but at least my car won't rust either.
I'm now subscribed to this build and looking forward to it's progress.

Re: Project OverKill
My truck had "helper springs" on it. They are off now and soon to be heading to Tenn. I still have to get the lower bracket/plates off and then I will move to the front to remove the Drivers fender, grill and radiator support. Of course, real work gets in the way...so I need to spray an 07' Chevy Colorado first.

Re: Project OverKill
I pointed someone (meathead?) your way for those overload springs, did he contact you?

Re: Project OverKill
I hope you're going to move it before you remove that driver's side fender; makes me nervous seeing it that close to that pretty red paint job sitting beside it.

Re: Project OverKill
Yeah...I moved it over a bit, wouldn't want to put a gouge in Lil' Red. Well sprayed the Colorado, dealer came and picked it up and brought me another one for tomorrow. So I moved in on the front. Resting now feeling like having a beer! Next...going to pull the engine. Getting closer to going up to see Doctor Glock and his surgery center!

Re: Project OverKill
The drivers wheel and the alignment need attention for sure..... I took a 3 lb hammer to the steering box to get it removed. No worries....gots a 71' disc front ready to install after the frame shortening and the sandblaster!!!!
