Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
HAHHAAHa I think I did get it resolved. The guy I got it from said he would make it right regardless. Here is the twist.......the man that will be doing the conversion from van to truck column will not be available for a while cause his son had broken down on the side of the road and someone drove by and shot him in the spine and now he is paralyzed. It may be another month before he is back to work. Said a prayer for him already!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
Got a few things done today, got a couple of pics to prove it! Will take some pics of the other things accomplished tomorrow. Hope to get the compressors installed and all the lenses on the lights this weekend. Might be able to start cutting the hole in the bed for the gas filler neck.
Got my turn signal light buckets painted. Did the same treatment on the taillight and reverse buckets. Chrome powder coated the window tracks. Got my airtank finalized.

that looks nice man. how did you mount the tank? straight to the frame or with a bracket?

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
A bracket. I cut a peice of steel the width of the frame and bolted it directly to the frame, I'll get some pics for ya. It's about 4 X 35, it worked perfectly. Seemed a little to flimsy at first till it was bolted on and the tank was bolted to it that really made it rigid.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
Thanks Kev and Heath! Here is today's pics. Got a couple of pics of my air tank bracket for you Kev. I got the compressors hung on the frame. Also installed the AC vent and ball. The biggest part of my day was taking the DS rear bag out, removing the c-notch, cutting a little more of my frame to clear the c-notch better then reinstalling everthing. Sounds simple, but that meant taking the bed off again also. One side of my bed was a little lower which made my passenger side tire tuck more than the drivers side and the c-notch was the problem, thats all I really got accomplished today. 3 and half hours just to do that. S%#t.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
Hey, it's those details that make it right. Good job not leaving it that way. How did you mount the compressors? I am planning to mount them similarly but looking for a clean mounting idea other than the brackets they sell....

It's a Summit 16 gallon gas tank, they run about $160 with the sending unit. I have the part number for it a few pages back in my thread. Just posted those pics, I installed them yesterday. So you didn't miss out on anything. I may be doing the wiring on them next weekend along with cutting the hole in my bed for the gas filler neck, so more pics then!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
they look good...so how did you mount them? Did you just move the VIAR supplied brackets to the side or make brackets?

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
Yep, just moved them to the side. I understand they work longer and better if they are mounted upright. I mounted them there so they can be seen through the rims, just a little. IMO that is what makes people look twice, when they see something out of the ordinary kinda hidden.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
Could you take pictures from behind once you get the bed back on and the bumper on? I really like the summit tank and price but don't want it hanging too low....

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
Posolutely, Absotively. Should be putting the bed back on in a week or two and can then install the rear scraper.....ummm I mean bumper. It is about 4 1/2 to 5 inches off the ground when airred out and the bed on. But hey.......that's plenty of room when it's just sittin at a show!
