Re: mylow53 build
thanks jimmy but that model uses a see saw fulcrum to pull the throttle cable i want the linkage to pass thru the original throttle hole then attach to the cable some how. that way i can reuse my original peddle... sounds crazy but why not i've come this far.

As promised here's the update. i started the engine and let her run. and i couldn't see any oil pressure my pressure light was going out on start up but the gauge was reading zero. So I checked everything i could think of and still no pressure. sunday morning came and i pulled the distributer and measured the length, to see if it was engaging the pump. and every thing checked out. so using the drill i did a series of tests for pressure and eventually found a flaw in the wiring diagram on my new rebuilt gauges. simply put they miss labeled the ground and sender terminals. so put everything back together and pressure!!!!. ran the engine for 10 minutes and reved it and my heater hose explodes in the dash!. apparently when i tightened it, the hose clamp got hung up on some metal. I had to hose down the interior. glad i didn't have the carpet in!!!. slapped on the other front fender and too some picts! Hope it was worth the wait GT

Moral of the story. When you think that you have all of your bases covered something will come up to bite you.
The truck is looking great. I bet that you are getting excited. When you have a second in the garage, messure the width of your grill for me Keep up the good work. Marc |

Re: mylow53 build
Greg, looking very good. Glad to hear your oil pressure wasn't an issue. That could've been expensive. Are you going to make a maiden voyage anytime soon? Take some video,

Re: mylow53 build
Greg--
It won't be long. Pretty soon you will have to update the Avatar. It seems like two different trucks. I went with a Lokar (nock off) type peddle. I got it off Ebay. It was under $75.00. You also have warm weather on your side. I was starring at 15 degrees this morning. Talk about taking your motivation away...... Good luck Marc |

Re: mylow53 build
Yeah I know what you mean. I had an excel spreadsheet for my build after a while I thought its just sick to spend this kind of money and my truck is still in pieces, so I stop looking at and kept spending.lol

It never begins out to be that much but it's sooooo easy to say, "yeah I could use that little thing here or that little thing there." I'm sure everyone that's in the same boat as you wanting to have a really nice 47-55 rig would die to know what you got in it so far. So that they can "better prepare themselves" for what's in store. I could guess close to $25k....but I might be way off. -Ivan |

Re: mylow53 build
yes your a bit off, the paint was 15. and i know i got a great deal... there is no way to prepare or even budget for a dream truck. the only thing you can do, is to do at at the pace you can afford. i really don't want to think about what is in this, my wife on the other hand....

Re: mylow53 build
My justification has always been I got this in 1976 after selling 3 cars I really liked to pay for college, drove the wheels off of it, and now when I finish I will have a cooler new truck for cheaper than buying a new 4WD truck. Recent economy has kind of altered that argument financially but thats my story and I'm sticking to it. You can ALWAYS find something done for cheaper than you can build it, right now I could buy a 1965 Chevelle with a 5K motor, 2K rearend, 2K transmission, recent paint, rebuild disc brake front in, good interior, for 9K, its a 20K car easy. I can't even start to finish my 64 for twice that. My friend is out of work and needs to save his house. You also have to factor in the money you are saving on shrinks and a divorce because you are staying out of the bars.
