I just polished the one that was on it using Mother's and 0000 steel wool. It took the surface rust off (worked really well on the hinge), but there is still some minor pitting. This truck isn't perfect (or as nice as yours) and likely never will be- I drive it too much. I'm pretty sure the trim ring is now reproduced and available at most parts sites for around $75.

Thanks! I'm struggling to find a receiver hitch that fits a '72 Blazer (a chore in itself) with the 37 gallon NWMP tank. I would like to hopefully drag a motorcycle back to the UK with me; the roads there are great for riding and the drivers are very bike-friendly.

Here is the one that came from the 2wd Jimmy. The other one I have is the style that attaches to the sport bumper, I don't think it would work because it also attaches where your blazer tank is located.

Ouch $75! not in my budget right now. Might just take you up on the steel wool idea. I hope to drive mine one of these days.

Had another question, how did you mount the head unit in your console? I really don't want to drill through the console body if possible. thanks

The plastic is trimmed for an interference fit to hold it in place, so no trimming of the console for that, buuuuuut, you will need a hole for the wires to pass through...

The one thats pictured bolted directly to the frame, the other one bolted to the two lower bolt holes just inside the tag pocket and I believe also attached to the spare tire bracket. I could prob have it shipped to you by then but it wouldn't be cheap because they are heavy!
