Re: Silverado restoration in Finland

Yesterday I ordered hopefully last parts from to the Chevy (Classic industries and LMC truck) and hopefully those parts will arrive this month. I couldn't find a jack sticker for either of the companies or anywhere else. If I had a picture of it, then I could do it myself.

We found a better front emblem and I fixed it before I installed it.

Re: Silverado restoration in Finland

Today my brother removed the diesel injection pump. It seems like that is "J" model pump (same than Hummer and heavy duty truck)! It should be a little bit more powerful than normal injection pump. My brother is going to take the pump to the service place in southern Finland, (500 kilometers from here) because there is someone who knows what he is doing. Hopefully specialist can get more horse power.

Mr Finland the c code and j code pumps are the same except the j code has the fuel screw turned up more with more timeing.the stock c code 6.2 made 130hp/240tq the military j code 6.2 in the cucv trucks made 165hp/330tq if you want these numbers you will have to get a j code intake without the egr advance the timeing a few degrees and turn the fuel screw up 1/4 turn to get more power and get rid of the factor intake tube with a good exhaust and more fuel should get you around stock 6.5 power.and if you haven’t already get the injectors rebuild with the pump

Thank you Zachary17! The pump specialist called today and said that the fuel screw was really small and the pump has something broken but I don't remember what. Hopefully new parts can be found in the pump. The repair will be quite expensive but hopefully it will be good.

The intake manifold is original, but other parts should get more power.

Re: Silverado restoration in Finland

Parts were found to the fuel injection pump and we got it back in thursday. Yesterday we put the pump back in place. Now the pump is screwed as efficiently as possible, but it shouldn't smoke too much. Hopefully the truck now works well and has more power.

1. These parts have been replaced into the pump.
2. Pump repaired
3. Pump installed

Re: Silverado restoration in Finland

After repairing the fuel injection pump, we started the engine and it sounded quite different. Now the engine is taking rpm very fast. I hardly can wait to get to the test drive and get to see if there is more power now.

Today we started to install the side moldings. We used a laser, that really helped a lot!

1. All parts back in place and jack in the right place. Fortunately, we have an owner's manual where I saw the right place for the jack.
2. We used a laser to install the side moldings.
3. The left-side moldings is now installed.

We used this kind of laser, normal self leveling cross line laser. First we check the body line and put a few pieces of tape to make sure that body line is right, after it is lifted up. Then we lifted midlle of the front axle so much, that front side marker lights and rear corner trim is right place. Last picture's show when front was lifted up and laser line help to install moldings. I also used tape to make it easier to install.
Hopefully you understood what I was trying to explain because I speak/write poorly english.

Re: Silverado restoration in Finland

My brother changed the crankshaft rear seal yesterday. The old crankshaft seal had been installed incorrectly. Fortunately, we had not installed it! "OUTSIDE" text was inside the engine.

Retrospectively, it would have been much easier to do this when the engine was in engine holder one year ago.

Zachary17, yes, there are also small cracks in our block but many have said that small cracks do not harm in those 6.2d engines. Someone said that almost all of those 6.2d engines are cracking in the same place. So we run on that engine as long as it works. That's the picture of our crack.

Re: Silverado restoration in Finland

I installed the rest of the side moldings and the beb corner trims in place. Outside is soon finished, only the front fender emblems are not yet installed, but those are also coming from Classicindustries to us.

Re: Silverado restoration in Finland

The trim looks great and I never get tired of seeing the underside with the russet color contrasting with the other parts. Those wiiiide back tires are cool too. And cute kids bundled up, smiling in the truck picture
