Painted the bumper brackets yesterday now to coat the inside of the bumper . And made a mental note to not put wet por15 parts on cardboard ripped up big chunks of cardboard . Guess I should have put some plastic down

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
I’ve always used plastic just wasn’t thinking . Inside of the bumper done just need to get some bumper bolts . Started late on it so I brought it in as it’s suppose to dip into the 40s tonight didn’t want to leave it out .

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Ended up making my own shiny bumper bolts . I thought I had ordered them but I went through my last 3 invoices not on any of them . Tail lights all work only had to play with one backup . Basically just back off the nuts and retighten.
Bumper does have a slight twist to it . It was real bad but I my 12k winch to pull it to where it is now. If it becomes a problem looking at it I’ll buy two chrome bumpers .

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Tied up some loose ends and installed a bench seat today. Of course the bench is temporary. It takes a long while to receive correct upholstery these days, ordered three months ago, they say as late as December. But I want to get this running, so a practice run on the bench I guess.
More than that I'm declaring a milestone. Long time coming, it's a battery and steering wheel away to roll for exhaust then start-up. Course the exhaust is pending, same with the battery, special is slow these days. Still needs glass, seems that should occur, any day now I've owned this 33 years, never saw it with a stove pipe until today. Always looked forward to it.

Looking terrific!!! Put some lotion on your cheeks so the don’t crack. From the big grin you’ll have on your face when you take it out the first few times.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Wife and I took ole rusty on a dinner trip up to Boog's stomping grounds. We've only been driving it locally making sure everything is sorted well and this trip was about 40 miles round trip. Truck did great but I realized the shorty cherry bomb exhaust has got to go. I have another muffler already and have ordered some pre bent pipe to rework it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Right front fender was worse than I expected . Found some rot in the cup and rear after working out the dents . All in all it’s better than 90% of the ones I looked at . No prior bodywork which is a plus .
Filling and lead are all but a lost art . I’m not leading it but I did work several hours messaging the metal . Guess if you tried on a new car you would tear the metal apart.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
I've pulled the governor out of my 700R4 eight times so far over the last two evenings in an attempt to raise the WOT 1-2 shift point to somewhere in the 5000-5500RPM range using a TCI kit. The two heaviest weights in the kit with the two heaviest springs were still above 5500RPM, and the 2-3 shift at part throttle was happening way too early, so I resorted to grinding down the original weights. Now I've got it shifting at around 5300RPM, and the part throttle shifts are spaced apart nicely. My wife snapped this picture as she was coming home from work yesterday evening.

Well I decided to cut and weld out the damaged area around the front half of the wheel well because I wasn’t happy with the lip area and I was going to do the cup anyway. If I was going to use moldings it would have been fine. So I cut up an aftermarket fender . Took a lot of fitting to get the cuts good enough to butt weld . Transplant was successful.

Great progress, guys. Always impressed with the bodywork I see here.
Here's me finding out a clutch job turned into a trans + transfercase rebuild. Might as well refresh the engine while i'm here |

How come you have Blue plates, rather than the Black/Gold ones? Old 919 used to sport Black/Gold plates when I bought it. The military made me register my truck and get a driver's license in the state that was my Home of Record. My parents had moved to Arizona, so that was the new ''Home.'' I had to turn in my Calif. [10 566 A] and get an AZ plate [2JY150] at the MVD [not DMV].
