Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?

I just picked up this YG8 earlier this week. Its in really rough shape but I plan to restore the inside to original as I can. Not quite sure what I am going to do with the body as it's almost completely gone.

I think sportbird was identical to feathers edition and eagle was different

I saw the the "Sportbird By Chevy" sticker but didn't think that the "Feathers/Sportbird/Eagle" could be optioned with a Highlander trim Blazer. Is there anything on my SPID that says it? It was originally white but at one point it was painted black and an orange drivers door was put on.

The decal package would be dealer installed so no SPID indication. They are actually quite common on Highlander trucks and blazers for some reason but are not related from an order standpoint. Is there any paperwork from the dealer in the glovebox about the decal package?

Nothing in the glovebox just the sport truck sticker. This K5 was road hard and put up wet.

Anyone know how much houndstooth material is needed to redo the highlander seats, front and rear?

My guess is faded orange plaid.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?

Mine was very hidden, customized and stored years ago but thanks to this thread and great info, now know it was an Avocado Highlander! Going to be putting it back to closer to stock, ordered the upholstery! Thanks!

If it were one of the promo package Highlanders the YGx RPO would be called out on the SPID (see post #322 above). To me this appears as a nice St Louis assembled blue plaid highlander non-promo package. I’m not sure if any St Louis assembled K5s were promo pack examples.

The blazer is missing seats and has had some modifications done by th PO. What other pictures would help to determine specifics of the truck? Thanks.

We just like seeing pictures in general. What are your plans for it?

Cool, thanks for the feedback! I'm sure it looked nice freshly built. MIT will get rescued and rebuilt to factory specs or custom.

Oh yeah, I like seeing pictures also. It seems all the parts needed are so hard to find in CA for blazers unless you have deep pockets. I'm going to sell it.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?

This one a Highlander? Just picked up this project. Doesn’t explicitly state “Highlander” on the SPID. From what I could make out on the worn out SPID:
Flint built
(Z84) Cheyenne equipment
?(686) Custom Trim Combination
(YG8) Special Promotional

Unfortunately the original rear bench seat was recovered and the front seats are long gone. Currently in primer. On the fence between going back to mostly original or custom.
