Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Went to replace the rear brake hose, crimped the snot out of the hard line(front to back) instead, so I started unbuttoning that line and making a new one.

The Jimmy needs new seats badly. The ones the PO put in are out of a Firebird/Camaro car from thre mid-80s. The foam was molded around the springs, and it's shot. Sharp pokey things pop up into one's posterior. And at the rear, the brackets are lag-bolted into 4''x 4'' blocks of wood. A head on collision will be fatal. It's the '67 Suburban, I'm thinking of Buddy Buckets in. Shotgun rider could ''lay aft'' and check on the load, [or retrieve a cold one] from the back while underway. Current stock '67 vintage bench seat is OK. Would be great after reupholstering. Just kidding. Keep your seats. You found them. You build them. Only fair.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
The seats I'm working on had the foam molded around the springs and frames. Made it a chore to get the old foam off.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Seats in but I’m going to have my upholstery guy redo it this coming winter PUI sent me enough to redo the back which the pleats are not well done. I am liking the color though . Now I need to try to get some dye for the arm rest .

Replaced a (2) month old T/A radial tire that went flat and tore up the sidewall. $165 gone! |

Thanks for that. I didn't notice it was flipped. It's often over 100 in April for me so a/c is a must.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
That looks like a great fit. What is that tank from? It looks like the blazer tank. Outside of the notch in the frame what other mods did it take to fit so well?

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Yes it is a the blazer tank. Aside from the notch in the frame, nothing else to make it fit well. My frame is missing a cross brace though i think, so we welded in a 3.5" angle iron, and put it next to the tank on the cab side to stiffen and strengthen things up. These frame are soft and weak as it is. Welded in some metal to fill where the old filler neck was at as well. Paint should be this weekend. All new metal (angle iron, tank, tank straps etc..) all get shot with POR 15. Also installed a steering box brace to help make sure my frame doesn't tear at the steering box (common problem).

Made a little progress on the seats I'm rebuilding. Reassembled the driver seat frame. Cleaned and painted the springs.

Rerouted my fuel hardlines to behind the crossmember, to free up space for future exhaust work. And mocked up the ac/heater hose routing for the Vintage Air install

Maybe 3 years ago, but you are probably thinking of my other 68 that I’m not touching other than mechanically.

Thanks it’s getting there . I should have the hood on in a few weeks and it’ll be about done. I have everything off a 72 c20 to put the disc brakes on it but that will be next winters project

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Glad I kept the 16 inch adapters . I just need to get two more PO1 caps the set I had were for 4 wheel drive so they have a big hole in two them . Always find a set at Carlisle truck show. I’m going to get new tires on the original 17 inch rims but these came off my 72 tires have about 5k on them .

Assembled one of my seats last night. Glued the cover onto the foam so that it would follow the contours. These seats have no listing wires in the foam.
