Re: Project '66 Dirtrod: K-30 Extended Cab

I've said it on Pirate and I'll say it here too, awesome work, that cab looks great.

And I'm also curious about where you got that power window kit? My dad did power windows in his 64, but he used a bunch of Cadillac equipment to make his own setup, and it ended up being pretty bulky, I'd like to avoid that and go with a kit like what you posted, looks small and simple. Does the place you got that kit from have anything for the '60-'63 cabs?

Re: Project '66 Dirtrod: K-30 Extended Cab

I'm actually not sure sure where all the pieces came from. I knew them about six months ago but I have since forgotten. I bought them from a guy who decided against installing them on his truck. I'll ask him next time I talk to him and let y'all know!

I'm gonna follow along for the rest of the ride. Awesome work!

Where do you get those tie rods you used for the brackets? I'd like to get my hands on some

They are sprint car tierods. There are a couple local shops that have 4-7 inch ones that are all we use. I'm sure summit or jegs would have them.

Yea, my boy's anxious for sure I'm having to hold him back while we wrap up other details.

We did work out some condenser brackets and get that mounted up though...

It will be interesting to see how much the truck weighs when finished with all the holes vs. all the new additional steel.

We're quite sure that we are adding weight to the truck , just not as much as without holes...really just a theme that we enjoy!

Re: Project '66 Dirtrod: K-30 Extended Cab

Can't wait to see some more progress,it's a Killer Build, good to see it's a Father & Son Build together,My Son just turned 16 and he's taking Auto-body and Auto Mechanics in High School,I Think he might help me with my truck,I just got a 64 3/4 ton 4x4 it's sitting on a 70's chassis, Here's a few pixs,PO has already replaced all new hardware in frame so we just have to concentrate on body.I want the original dark blue body with white top and steel wheels & caps,I want the retro look....O BTW it has 350 4spd..So keep the progress coming cuz it makes me want to get started on mine..Randy

Re: Project '66 Dirtrod: K-30 Extended Cab

Randy,
You have an excellent looking start there. You should begin working on it and start your own build thread with the help of your son. It is great to see these father/son projects. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us...makes me want one like yours and the one in this build!

Re: Project '66 Dirtrod: K-30 Extended Cab

Hey ya'll, thanks for the cool comments.

We've been out of the loop for a bit with a recent move out to the country (few acres/couple shops)
Been in the new place for a few weeks now and still trying to organize it all...we're not done, but making progress. We did make settling in to one of the shops a priority and actually moved the cab over on to the chassis just last night. I think my son has some pics to post up We still need to clearance the firewall a bit before moving the cab into where it needs to be (an inch or two forward) but he's been goofing around with the bed parts to get an idea of how it's going to look.

Alright, chased down some pics...not the greatest, but it's the best we've got of the cab on the chassis.
