Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I got these items done Wednesday night before Thanksgiving;
New turn signal switch - I now have brake lights, turn signals, easier horn operation, etc... New ignition cylinder & new door lock cylinders all to one key - I don't think my grandpa ever locked the truck - so there was no round key, got all locks working smoothly and the ignition key doesn't come out in just any position. got the glove box button replaced - had to drill out the old one - replaced everything, now works like a charm! Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
After reading about cowl rust issues and repairs with the 67-72s, I decided to get down on the pavement, and clean out the body drain holes. I was mostly concerned with making sure that there was no dirt or decayed leaves and needles in the area between the cowl and the front fenders, so I used one of those plastic ties to get into the drain holes and pull out anything that would hold moisture. The left side had some crud in there, but the right side was clean. Also did the doors, and rinsed them out to make sure all the drain holes flowed properly.
Finished up by washing out the front "horns" at the bottom of the fenders, and hosing off the underside of the truck. No bad surprises, so I'm tired, dirty, but happy. My thought is that if I keep on top of stuff like this, I can keep the tin worm away.

What Tod Do ?
You have a nice old LongBed in Wyoming ~
Love it , take good care of it so the tin worm doesn't eat it out from underneath you, DRIVE and enjoy it plus work it ~ that's what GENERAL MOTORS LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS were made for .

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
We are pretty fortunate here in Wyo, very dry weather and no salt is used on the roads. most vehicles here have no or very little rust.
This truck was purchased new in Powell, Wyo. it has spent it's whole life here.

RUST Issues
Understood .
Be aware that even in the California Deserts these trucks tend to rust out because GM dropped the ball and didn't make any effort to prevent rusting . This is why it's so critical to keep an eye on rust and be pro active . I hope you'll do a major Service and tune up on it then DRIVE it as they're very good drivers .

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I woke up my truck from a years slumber and moved it from storage to the side of my yard that I can actually drive out of. The brakes need attention but with fresh gas it fires up on the first turn of the key. I am about to do a 14 bolt swap and hydroboost brake swap. Glad to allocate some time to my old girl. Amazing how good she looks in pictures.

Was going to have black on the grill wrapped in vinyl but it wouldn't stick so had to paint it. Got more of the frontend put together. Getting closer.
