Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

So, in my quest to find an engine machine shop, my father in law found a fully assembled LQ9 from a 2005 Denali with 80,000k on it. Came with the GM performance manifold and another one. I think it might be the original truck manifold. Not a bad buy for $900!

After looking at it, I think I might keep that manifold on it rather than the LS2 mani I have in the garage... A little retro look would be pretty neat, I think!

Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

Love it. I want to do the drop member so bad.

What are you doing about the bed floor now? Raising it or cutting it out?

What base do you work at? I was stationed in SD

Thanks man! I went back and forth with the decision to buy the dropmember and I guess I just finally convinced myself to do it once I decided to go with the LS swap. After playing around with putting it on, I cant say Ive made a better decision! in other words, DO IT!

Im actually going to keep the bed floor like it is. I didnt buy the rear dropmember, so all it really is, is the PB trailing arms and crossmember. Maybe later in the future i might raise it, but its not in my immediate plans

I am not actually in the military, Im actually just a civilian contractor. However, I have an uncle that used to be stationed in SD.

got too many projects right now to afford it, or I'd have already done it.

Does the diff hit the bed floor when its bagged out?

I read where you said you were a contractor, but most of them are on bases somewhere. That's why i asked. I'm trying to get on with Lockheed once I finish my masters.

oh yea, you're going to LOVE the LS swap

Aww, dang!

Yes, the diff does hit the bed floor when its aired out, but thats it. I mean it barely love taps it...

Im not based out of any base back home except my employers' facility. I am overseas right now, but cant exactly say where :/ Good luck with lockheed! I almost snagged a job with them at SkunkWorks but I decided to go where Im at right now

Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

So, during a random search for C10s with flames on google images and I ran across this... Gotta say this puts a pretty big smile on my face! Maybe I might be going somewhere with this build. LOL

I know you probably said it earlier in your thread but I didn't see it. But what kind of push button setup are you using and how do you like it? I was thinking about putting one on my 69

Its a watson's hot dot. I got it right from their website! I cant say I know how hard it was to hook up, as my ol man did it, but Im sure I will be learning how to redo it here soon!

And yes! I am still alive... Just an update from where I left off, I said I was getting married. Well in the process of planning the wedding, and on my arrival home from my last deployment, we decided to pick up a new, bigger home. Unfortunately for me, it still only has a 2 car garage, so the work area hasnt increased. So, on top of planning a wedding, buying a house, and selling my other one, we also decided to put in a new kitchen(since we made a nice chunk on the old house) and now Im back deployed again.

Hopefully, this should be the last trip that I do, so alot of updates hopefully to come!

Here she is getting ready to move

And now in her spot all cozy

Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

Just stumbled across you thread and read through it. Nice truck!

Did you ever finish the interior? I'm interested in how the dash turned out.

Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

I havent had a chance to do any work on it really lately. Om overseas right now, but this is my last trip. So now its nothing but time!

As an update on the interior, I just purchased a set of the Fesler door panels for it. Pretty exciting
