Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Easiest header install I’ve ever done . One glitch the rear bolt on number 2 exhaust wouldn’t make the angle to go in . I heated the header and put a tiny dimple and it went right in . Headman offered to replace them under warranty but it was so minor I didn’t go that route . The headers fit perfectly .

I was very impressed with the flange thickness and overall thickness of the headers . Took a bit of force to dimple the one tube even heated . Now I need to get some pipes for the exhaust

I expected more mojo out of Ceramic coating. Now that the '71 Jimmy's not my DD, I can run it on the siding and R+R the headers. Gonna paint them White with the cheapest Ace Hardware stove paint I could find, and reinstall them with fresh gaskets and re-attach the Dipstick tube to the side of the Block. I still have my Mom's old Hotpoint. Hoping the resident packrats have left some internal insulation... Bake Two hours at 500*.

We shall see how they hold up as this truck is my worker truck . I use it as a tow vehicle for the other show vehicles and my swap meet truck

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Got the exhaust yesterday . This shipment was delayed 3 days I’m guessing they needed to find pieces . All the pipes were there but most of the installation hardware was missing except this one clamp . Summit is sending out a replacement package of hardware.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
After my Hedman headers rusted out, I was careful to order the same part number for the replacement. However ''Progress'' had marched on -- and the Collector/Exhaust junctions were now a new Ball style. Not the 3 bolt sets that press a flat gasket. So I had to sawzall-off the ends and run 7 miles to Midas to get Ball ends welded on my exhaust pipes.
Then I found out a year later my local Hot Rod Shop could have gotten me the old school Hedmans if I bought them there. But I thought I was saving a buck at Jegs. Anyway, for the old school Collector/Exhaust gaskets, I found the thicker Copper ones were the best. Never burned out.

Recovering from sinus surgery atm but been converting to serpentine belt not squealing at 3500 rpm is nice. Chasing out a issue with pulley alignment and coolant hose, I may have got the alignment dialed, the upper rad hose I think is going to be solved with a 67 firebird 400 upper hose. We shall see

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
.
Restored my brake pedal today. It's a Lokar unit with 20k miles on it and was in poor shape. All the pads but one had fallen out fairly recently and the finish was looking dull. The last pad jumped to freedom as I was punching the attach bolts through and out of the pedal arm. Sadly, I did not get a before picture as this whole thing started out as fixing a rattle from the brake pedal. The Lokar piece was fitted pretty good to the arm "flange" for your foot and had 4 attachment points that were merely friction based. All the brake work I've been doing lately broke something there or dislodged something but the screws fully tight wouldn't stop the rattling. Anyway, I had to get it on the bench to figure it out... again no pictures Got the rattle fixed and was ready to epoxy the pads back on there and decided to polish the thing first! Here's the finished product...over 100 bucks to buy a new one but this cost me an hour, some chemicals and some work... -Kevin

Daughter, son in law, and I drove it to a cruise in swap meet about an hour north. Didn’t see anything I needed but saw some nice rides.

Are those pipes stainless? You're done except for an occasional touch-up. Looks good!

The whole exhaust from headers to the tailpipes are stainless . Hope to never have to replace them in my lifetime.

Oil change on the '70 and the Montero today. Nice weather. While I was taking a break, I got to thinking about how many jobs my Mac tools have done since the mid '70's. That KD filter strap has been in my box since the late '70's also. They sure have paid for themselves.

New TMI dash pad installed, black with red stitching.
Raining out so the picks are from a dark garage.

Detailing the truck for the Inaugural Fredericksburg Classic Truck Show at Pecan Grove Store. This will be a very nice Saturday morning drive from Kyle to Fredericksburg Texas.
Its been a bit since I did a full on detail of the truck. Since she is a garage queen I generally just dust her off with a water bath and wipe down. Heck a few times I did the wash during light rain LOL! Anyone else in the area going?
