if you have a stnd bore up to .30 over, the block can be rebuilt with no issues. i really dont like going more than .30 over but 327s dont seem to have the overheating problem at .60 over jobs ........... provided the block passes a mag test

This is what it looks like now after using metal rescue for about 6 hours.
Next is the wire wheel, and if all else fails I do have a 350 block sitting up waiting to be built. Dont want to put too much energy into this engine if I cant keep it simple.

That cylinder rust isnt too bad. I once bought a 69 Impala for the 327 and T400 in it for one of my trucks. Flood water had gotten into 2 cylinders. One was substantial. I broke a piston getting it out. Rust was too deep to save it. It was a low mile engine so little wear. I had the one cylinder sleeved to put it all back to stock size. It was a great little motor that I ran for 8 yrs or so then sold the truck. New owner was tickled pink with it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

My 67 chevy c10 lwb has been a long 2 year project. So far we installed a 250/th350. 250 got new freeze plugs, intake&exaust gaskets, starter, flywheel, oilpan&valve cover gaskets, new oil line to Original gauges,Water temp to Origianl gauges, Th350 was rebuilt, 4 core radiator, 15x6 steelies, 69-70 automatic steering column/Cpp Linkage but kept my original 67 steering wheel on. We have the Original electrical but just patched up some wires. Next is hopefully a new Ignition coil and then I can move onto the brake work. Gonna keep that all drums for now. Someday disc brake up front.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Friday I received my 12bolt parts, new Eaton 4 series Posi,3.73 ring & pinion, complete install kit, extra inner pinion bearing & solid pinion shim kit. Got all of it for $670.00 shipped to my door step.

Today my youngest son (8 yr old) and I started taking out the rear-end so we can rebuild it ourselves.
We got everything stripped down and apart, we stopped for lunch and a movie this afternoon... ( it was a hot one today) & almost got finished removing the rear-end this evening but stopped after fighting with the E-brake cable and the backing plate.

It was fun to watch the reaction on my son's face when he cracked open the dif cover and to his surprise all the "stinky oil" came out... he was taken back at first, but he held it open to drain with one hand and held his nose with the other....

Good times!!!

90W has got to be one of the foulest smelling things known to man. It smells like it still has dead dinosaurs in it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I drove mine to a friends who lives about 80 miles away, longest trip since I got it running again. We cruzed the beach (Oceanside) a little then on the way home I got rained on. Rain? In southern California...in the summer? I wasn't very happy about the rain (no wipers) but, I guess it had to happen sometime.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Ran metal tranny lines up under the battery tray, then rount the lines up through the two holes in the valance and voala, much more reliable tranny lines that i dont have to worry that the rubber would crack Now if i can get some tranny fluid....

I walked out and checked the fuel gauge. Wife'll have to get gas if she's going to drive it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

It dropped to 96 degrees today. I spent a few hours on the money pit.

Put on the tailgate. Put on the hood hinges. Generally did a sort of stuff that goes, and the stuff that stays (I'm keeping a couple of dash set ups in case of a gauge failure or somebody needs to replace one.
Also, I'm keeping the clutch pedal and pivot and linkage. Never know if that close-ratio four speed is in the future....a few other things). Unfortunately, nobody around here wants stuff like four doors that
are about a 75-85 out of a hundred, some glass I replaced because is wasn't perfect, a bench seat that need a spring job, etc. So, I'll box up the tid-bit stuff that I think folks will be rummaging around for,
and the rest will go to the dogs.

Sorry about the dark interior shot. I forgot the flash.

I cleaned out the bed. It hasn't been this empty for three years. Since the start of the "build".

Getting close.

Post Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Drove it to the junkyard to source some old Mercedes engine parts , on the way home one brake drum began to squeak loudly , looks like a brake job is in the near future ~ it's prolly just a broken spring but I've been thinking of up grading the 2" drum brakes to the optional 2.5" ones.....

I don't want to tear it apart so close to Sunday tho' .

(got the Mercedes parts cheap !) .

If its a broken spring, then maybe just changing to new brake hardware may solve the problem.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Drove to georgia yesterday and bought a seat from board member CC69Rat and actually met his dad aka NoNeck...super cool guy. Got it home on the ole roof bike rack on the Camry (my wife was not impressed...lol). But it's in and loving having a seat again.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Saturday, I entered the truck in a local show. The only prize I won was a primo parking spot

Sunday, I replaced the crappy "temporary fix" choke cable with a factory one. I also installed a new air filter.

Next project is to replace the gas pedal, as the rubber bottom holding it to the floor ahs just about split all the way off.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finally got my headers installed and the exhaust welded up! Fixed my tps problem with a couple shims, got the clutch linkage moved whitch was stupid easy and I'm still kicking my self over taking so long on it.. Put new connecting tierods on the front axle, checked all the fluids, put $20 of premium In it and have been driving it since! I sure did miss driving it. Wish I hadn't waited so long.. Now just for a set of premium lock out hubs and I'll be ready to go wheeling again!
