Thankfully none of it sticks! I'd hate to have to put money into snow tires for the one month of "snow" we get

I just purchased a chrome glove box door and I am painting it krinkle black on the front then installing another script emblem in the center of it to match the outside emblems and valve covers. I really like them too!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Great minds think alike. I purchased a chrome glovebox door months ago to do just that to match the gauge bezel look. Since then I've decided to go more custom on the dash but still hadn't ruled out something with that effect....

Just went by the machine shop, he said it would be ready for pickup tomorrow as the heads are still being rebuilt. The weather looks crappy for tomorrow so I may pick it up Saturday. This is pathetic, I had a dream that I was backing the truck down the driveway.

REALITY CHECK HERE. You will be in the near future, but it may involve cutting holes in your floor and doing the Fred Flinstone. LMAO. Sorry bud, had to. I know, I know, It feels great when it starts getting close to completion. The dream will come true after all!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

The great Southern weather visited this weekend and made working outside really nice. I was able to get a few things done and spend a huge amount of money in the process. Had my paint guy come by and do some work getting rid of the rocker and cab problems and a couple of other things.
Got the breather cover and valve covers in primer and got em sanded and put a little paint on the breather cover.

This paint looks incredible in the sun. The 327 emblems really set it off, but if I had it to do over they may not have been installed. I may have just pinstriped it a little.

Here it is. Finally! And still not complete. Some of the items he installed were needed, like the Corvette 1/8 in springs and hardened locks to handle the bigger cam. I chose to go with the roller rockers and comp rods along with, of course, a double roller timing chain. The 66 Vette manifold that I bought for it may not be used because of the carb that is going on it, that's why there isn't a manifold on it yet.

Had to get a pic with the valve covers on it, too bad they are still in primer.

It was really windy this weekend and even covering the cab really well we still had a little overspray get on it. No biggie, it was really light and should buff off easily.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Here is another pic that made me change my mind on using the krinkle paint, it just looks too good to paint. So I think I will buy the solid chrome instrument bezel to match the glove box door.

Here is a close up of the rocker panel, it blended well and with the candy on it was hard to tell what was done.

It was awesome! I have way too much left to do on the motor (and parts to buy) before it goes in. Still have to find a manifold and paint the block too.

Thanks Nuke. Several parts on the motor are Corvette so it made sense to put an L88 scoop on it!! Actually I just thought it looked kick a$$, and I wanted to have something noone else has! Now to figure out the best way to mount it to the motor.

LOOK!! I have proof I do something occasionally!
I sanded and primed the inner fenders and got them ready for paint. Was gonna paint em black but decided to paint em the body color.

Found the perfect intake for my engine, it is an aluminum reproduction of the 68 - 69 Z28 and 70 LT1. Even has the "snowflake" and the Chevy bowtie emblem on it just as the originals. It is a high-rise and is really tall, hope everthing fits under the hood.

The old school valve covers look great and the breather really makes the engine look modern, think it's a good mix of old and new. The headers should fit in the frame without trimming according to my measurements but I won't know for sure till next weekend when I install it. Also concerned about the HEI and firewall clearance with the breather installed.

Those do look slick

Question - how do you guys accomplish crankcase ventilation using old school valve covers?

Thanks GreenAcres! It is through the oil filler tube on the front of the intake manifold. I will cut mine down to about 3 inches to accomodate the oversized breather cover. Thanks for checkin out the thread!
