Round two of Woogeroo vs. the Fuel Pump...

2nd fuel pump of the week... this aggravation makes me want to put a block in it that has a mechanical fuel pump!!!

(this engine block came in it)

The Easter parking lot install fuel pump was leaking from the body molding of the pump, or something really weird!

I used a excess piece of heater hose cut into two, 'C' clip shaped covers to protect the fuel line from the grips... worked great, just a little bit of fuel came out into my bucket. YAY.

The difference in road side and driveway repairs is the amount of tools you have!

I hope this one doesn't leak!

I really sympathize with you. Over the years I’ve had a variety of electric fuel pumps from dirt cheap to very expensive. Regardless of brand, type or orientation of filters I’ve never owned one that didn’t fail – eventually. I’d love to have an electric pump right now to assist in starting after the truck sits for several days, but I just can’t tolerate the dependability of electric pump failures.

By comparison, my mechanical pump has been in place for 20 years and still works fine.

Yep, if I ever put another engine in it, I will more than likely get an older one with the mechanical pump on the side like the SBC engineer team from the 1950's intended.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Fixed the interior light, learned in the process that the light switch needs replacing. Looped my heater hoses together so that my next job can be to remove and restore the heater box.

Hey, can I just plug the heater inlet/outlet at the water pump?

Also, installed a new steering wheel, the old walnut wheel was coming apart a bit ( got a few nasty pinches from that one). Not thrilled with how that turned out. Previous owner installed a horn button on the steering column, when I got it all back together the horn just wants to blow. Must be a short that he had and didn't want to spend the time on. Will need to pull it all apart again and find the trouble.

First real day in the grudge with my new toy

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I got my front sway bar installed. It took me much longer than I expected so I never got to the rear coils. Still need to cinch all of the mounts up, but here is the bar and the new front coils. I love how it sits now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Most of the aftermarket guys do. I'm too cheap so I got a 1 1/4" bar off of a 78 1 ton at the Pick 'n Pull. I bought the mounting bracket from Early Classic Enterprises and got the bushings from Ebay. All in all, I have less than $80 into it. Just had to drill a couple of holes in the frame.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

The white in behind the front grill area is a nice touch. Today I had a body man look at the rocker I lowered on the drivers side that was installed wrong and thought it was good work but the pass side is even worse so cut the inner, outer rocker out and cab corner, it was in too far and up to high also had a twist, so waiting for parts. Also welded up antenna hole.
