Re: What did you do to your truck today?
My son and I got the front clip just about disassembled today.
We'll finish it up tomorrow and blast the cowl parts and start the smoothing process. Next up after that, is blasting and sanding the inner fenders and core support in prep for painting. Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I like the stance how's it ride? Did you change shocks? Mine seems to sit lower in the rear on the tj coils but I heard that there are different spring rates to tj coils depending on the model of jeep they came on

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finished tearing the old 230 down. Crank is clean and out. Cam is clean and out. Broke the cylinder glaze with a hone, then gave the block a good bath. Dried it off, then wiped the cylinders down with WD40.
Masked off the block for primer / base / clear. Soaking the main caps now in parts cleaner, tomorrow I'll bolt up the timing cover and oil pan before paint. After that I'll soak the pistons in parts cleaner and polish the crank.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
It was actually yester day, but, got the interior sprayed with clear coat and the exterior has its first coat of clear. Today plan on start putting interior back together. Wish I could post some pics of the 62 chevy but have not figured that part out yet.

a37lesalle, to upload pictures, first click on "Post reply" when you do that if you scroll down you will see "Manage Attachments", click on that. In the new window click on "Choose File" Then locate the picture you want to upload on you PC. Then it goes back to the "Choose File" screeen, you can select another pic if you wish, or click "Upload", it may take a few seeconds to a minute depending on the number of pics, and the file size.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
replaced my single pot master cylinder with a dual. New lines, hoses, cylinders and shoes. Nothing too thrilling, but it's what I did. ;-)
Man do I hate bleeding brakes. Do not buy the Mityvac 8500. It just doesn't work well for bleeding. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Quote:
Cut a piece of plate that will just cover the top of your master cylinder, drill & tap a hole in the middle of the plate to 1/4" pipe thread, Clamp the plate to the master cylinder using a couple of small C clamps or light chains with long threaded bolts that will fit between the chain links & nuts and cinch down, install a small regulator & gauge with a quick connect, run an air hose from your compressor to the regulator and set the regulator to 10 PSI MAX!! Start bleeding your system but don't let the master run dry. Check it often. I know, if you can't get your hands on all the junk needed to do this it sure doesn't help you much. But it sure makes bleeding the brakes an easy task. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I got the cowl covers all welded into one piece and started sand blasting them. I am going to cut out the cowl grill and smooth it next.
The pics turned out terrible. Will take more soon. After smoothing I will start on the inner fenders and radiator support. Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I'm new to this board and loving every minute here. Thank you to everyone for their posts, been researching ideas since deciding to get a project going. My new toy is a 65 SWB Stepper, she arrived home yesterday morning and by the next evening I went from assembled truck to partially disassembled. Pulled the bed, hood, and front fenders. Tomorrow, get the remainder of the front cap off, and gut the interior.
