Re: It was fun while it lasted, but the party is over!!

Man I am glad you are okay..Been there 15 years ago on my 62 C-10 (pride and joy)...some lady hit me between the cab and bed on the driverside and I ended up with the ticket and bruised ribs...Her 90s Silverado was taken on a flatbed and I drove mine home..You will be down for a while but the party will never end!! You will find another one..

Re: It was fun while it lasted, but the party is over!!

Not that I am looking for you or anything like that, but I found this on C-list for Fayetteville AR [I don't know how to link] 65 cab for 200 bucks 479-200-5085. I don't know the man he is on the opposite side of the state from me and I am in no way connected with him or his parts. Just thought I'd share

I don't think you should have a problem. It's their insurance that has to pay not yours.

Re: It was fun while it lasted, but the party is over!!

Ahh man that is a shame to see i feel ya buddy I totaled my 65, It is not a experience I would want anyone to go through and sorry to see that you are...I know you may feel like its the end but find out whats going to happen with your insurance first hopefully they treat you well....you cant replace lifes or limbs, but you can replace trucks.....take my experience for instance, I took what i could off the 65,then found a 66 rolling frame and body and made a running driving truck, took it for its first drive today,I will have owned it for a year in a couple days.....Best of luck to you and keep your head up.

WOW, that does suck in a big way....but glad to hear you are OK.

I have to agree that the owner of the loader or his insurance should be the one footing the bill on this one. Of course I suppose that would depend on if the operator got a ticket or not.

True....makes accessing the door components easier. On the serious side though...glad your ok. I have been there also. Was one of 5 vehicles in a 5 car crash with my 63 back in 1996. I was the only one of 5 that was able to drive away, but my truck was eventually totaled out. Glad to hear your not hurt and the hunt will begin for another project.

Re: It was fun while it lasted, but the party is over!!

Hey just put the word out if you are going to fix it ,we Michiganders stick together, lots of trucks around ,shouldnt be too bad to find parts ....And remember we (michiganders)have no fault insurance ,if you only have liability insurance you can only sue for 500.00 thats all ,but if you have full coverage then your insurance company pays for your damage ..

Re: It was fun while it lasted, but the party is over!!

Again guys, your well wishes and concern truly does make me feel better. It's like a big family on this site full of support, knowledge, and positive reinforcement. I couldnt have built the truck I did without you all. I'm sure I'll try to find another good cab eventually, I'm too stubborn not to. I dont think it hurt the frame, suspension or running gear because it hit pretty high, but then again I'm not sure. I havent torn into it because the adjuster hasnt seen it yet. I dont understand the whole insurance process but I guess Ill soon find out.
Ill keep you all posted as I find things out.

That is just a sickening sight man. Glad you are okay, that's the most important thing. Good luck with the insurance process. I hope it's a smooth and fast process for you.

Keep your chin up man, don't worry about who's insurance covers what. The important thing is that you are covered, and will be properly compensated. Hoping for the best for you!

Trucks can be rebuilt, it's a good thing you came out ok.

It does suck, though. Maybe you can buff it out.

Man, that sucks. Glad your ok.

As bad as that is, and as much damage was done to the truck, just think how much worse it would have been if you hadnt been driving something with all that steel. A more modern truck would have folded like a tin can. Your truck thanked you by saving your life.

Re: It was fun while it lasted, but the party is over!!

Glad you wern't hurt, from the looks, if you had had a passenger, it might not be the same story!
I kinda know what that's like....few years back, my beautiful '72 fully loaded 3/4 ton 4x4 GMC Sierra Grande got hit by a drunk driver. No fixing that truck, he tore everything off my truck from the front drivers fender back....bent that dana 60 front x in half, and the whole frame about 14" out of straight. My drivers door torn completely off, and the rear axle torn right out of my truck. I walked away. MUCH, MUCH sadder than my truck damage, he died. 17 years old. Some things CAN'T be replaced.

Re: It was fun while it lasted, but the party is over!!

man i just cringe when i see anybodies old car or truck get in a wreck.

When I drive mine Im always on the look out and try to be extra careful.

Way too many family memories in both my trucks. I do favor my 66 the most though even though its in worst shape than the 84

believe me, I'm always watching out too....this kid came around a corner, cops estimated about 85 MPH, I almost climbed over the guardrail to escape, but there was nothin I could do! Sometimes it's just out of our hands.

Re: It was fun while it lasted, but the party is over!!

I figured its worth an update. I met with everyone I was suppose to, and provided the documentaion they needed. Pictures were taken an all. The accesor said it will be written as a total loss. But it's now been 2 weeks since the process of the claim had began. No money and no buy back price for my truck??? Is this an abnormal amount of time to get this claim settled? Or is it about right and Im worrying for nothing? I kind of feel out of the loop these days.

Re: It was fun while it lasted, but the party is over!!

Hey !
I dont know the process as mine was at fault and i had minimum insurance and mine was a total loss for sure so i didnt bother with any of that stuff, but I'm glad you gave us a update and are still here! I would think that it may take awhile...thats what i would think anyways, I would give it a couple more days, but if you are that worried you could probably make a few calls and ask what the status is......hang in there !

Glad you are ok. When I wrecked my 1963 c-10. The insurance took about 30 days for me. I had an agreed amount policy. They took care of me.
