Okay got a little update for everyone .... I dropped my block and crank off at the machine shop to get work done .... Block will be cleaned, checked and possibly bored no more than .030 over.... and crank checked to be strait and polished.... I also took my dads crank to get turned .010 on the mains and .010 on the rods.... has anyone had this kind of work done lately and is $400.00 bucks a "Ok" kind of price to expect ??? Feedback please.... later on

My machine shop charged $400 for hot tanking and magnafluxing my block and crank, honing my cylinders, installing new cam bearings, pressing new pistons on my rods, polishing my crank and decking my block..

the shop I use charges $55.00 to hot tank everything, $12.00 per hole to bore out larger. and if I remember right about 50 dollars to turn the crank . puts in the cam brg. for about $20.00. that's using your brg. I priced this a few months ago , but this should be pretty close....so ya'll are paying a bigger price. does sound kinda high....

That 1109 cam requires a minimum of 11 to 1 compression (which means running race gas even with aluminum heads) and a 4000 stall converter...as long as you have all that, it is gonna scream.

Your interior looks nice, I like the seat color with the blue paint.

thanks I decided to run a little dome piston it will put me around 10.72 its a Sealed Power Hypereutectic .125 Dome Piston and a 3200 stall since I'm going to drive it on the street....

Well here is a little update for everyone... I went to the machine shop today to pick up my block and crank .... That was a wasted trip... It's not ready yet... " I should have called first..." Lesson learned.... I did get to pick up my Dad's crank " The one I had turned .010 mains and rods..." So that was good.... Oh well maybe it will be ready Monday or Tuesday ....

Well time for an update .... Went to the machine shop 4 times in the last 2 weeks got lied to every single time ... "About how this or that was being done ..." so I decided to look at it for myself.... Me and the shop owner walk in the back ... "While walking back he is telling me how he had to go a little more than .030 over and how he wanted to hone it a little more..." We get to where they bore the blocks and I start looking for my block and don't see it .... The shop owner says here it is and points to a block... So I look and it's not my block... at all it's a 2 bolt 305.... I'm looking still and I see mine with a tag of someone else name on it.... I start to get crazy on them.... Needless to say they hadn't done anything at all to my block... I told them to just load it up....... I called another smaller shop the guy did it cheaper and faster I got it back in 2 days

Unfortunately, that type of thing is too common. Almost happened to me too, but I gave them H@ll when they tried to give me some BS story. Thank goodness I had taken photos of my castings and markings.

So glad someone else didn't get her.... Close call.... Everyone needs to be very aware of this danger .... Always mark your stuff some way some how before sending it to someone that doesn't care like you do about it....

Ok update time .... I'm running low on funds so I decided to just use the flattop pistons that come in the kit.... It should still make plenty of power for a cruiser..... Also decided on some tires for the rear 295/50/15.... They are about 12" wide I think they'll fit.....

Where the tread sits on the road, is usually 9-1/2 inches wide on most of those tires.

Tires are different from one brand to next, wonder what yours measure, exactly???

I measured them and they measured about 13" from outside curve to outside curve (__) ..... so I think the tread is about 12" wide..... oh yea I wish I had forged pistons too... Maybe next time I'll be able to afford the all forged 427ci small block roller motor of my dreams...
