the 68 and 69 had different style side markers then the 70-72. the 70-72 were flat and actually had a light bulb in them. the 68-69 have a lil chrome on them and are just a reflector. the only way i can explain how they look is they look like an equals sign = two rectangles on top of each other with a lil strip of chrome around the two. at least my 69 gmc has this style anyways

Good reference site, thanks. Looks like 69/70 inner grill was plastic from the factory. The cable throttle sounds like the majority wins. Now I can look for a junkyard 71 & 72 to scavenge one from. All the information I previously had came from this Board. Sure would be nice to have the search function active so we wouldn't have to beat these subjects again and again.

67/68 had a bow tie in the grill.
69/70 had it on the hood.
71/72 went bqack to the grill.

What you saw was a 71/72 with a 69/70 grill, and the bow tie was probably removed from the grill.

1971 was the first year for the throttle cable, as per federal guidlines.

Actually, the big block in 69 was in fact a 396. It was in 70 that they were all 402's.

I had a '67 Custom Cab with factory A/C, so I guess since they began. Another difference is that 67's and 68's have a Choke cable (I don't know if all do) , a smaller ashtray, and the hand operated parking brake.

All 67's had black and silver instrument bezels and glove boxes. 67's had the old style keys also.

My '67 C-30 and C-50 has no rear view mirror and only one sunvisor. You can see pilots for where the screws would go, but no holes.

Actually, the flat style was standard on all models. In 68, it was the only style. 68 and 69, the lights were optional, so they could have been real lights, or just reflectors. The 2 stacked rectangles with the trim came on the CST/Cheyenne model trucks.

The rear view mirror was optional on all 10 - 30 trucks untill 70.
