Re: Cubber's Build Thread
No, won't pull that trigger for a little while yet.... research, research, research! I find that as this is my first build, that research saves me time and money, and is also a great teacher. I may put pressure on the local guy to at least get close to the price, then I am dealing with local vendor if there are any problems down the road.

Re: Cubber's Build Thread
Gonna follow your thread. Good luck with the 6. I have never had good luck with the carbs on them. Somebody makes an intake that allows you to use a 4 barrel. I forget who.
Good call getting rid of the purple. Never been a fan of trucks that are purple. No offense to any of you guys or gals w/purple trucks lol.

I'm headed to the Redneck Rumble in Lebanon on Sat. There are supposed to be a lot of 6 cyl parts. Offenhauser is the 4bbl intake, Clifford also makes them, but the Offy is supposed to be better for street usage. BTW, Purple just ain't me, but you can still see it inside the bed, and people are shocked when they see it was that color. What's worse, is the paint was actually done right, meaning the whole inside of the cab and the whole dash was that color. I drove it 2 times before i sprayed that rattle can black on it lol.

Re: Cubber's Build Thread
Glad to see another stepper in the area. How far are you from Atlanta?
Oh yeah....get some pics! LOL As for your signature text, when you go into User CP, follow the steps using the picture of the globe of earth with the chain under it. Basically, type in your URL, then type in "My Build". I forget the order, but that is how you do it

Re: Cubber's Build Thread
Hey, I have a quick question for you, you posted in my thread where I asked about the power steering brackets. I was wondering if you could post or even pm me some pictures of the actual bracket and how it mounts to the pump (side pictures of it, a picture of the back, etc.) I'm curious as to how the bracket mounts to everything.

Re: Cubber's Build Thread
I will as soon as I can get some close ups. I can tell you now that it mounts to the pump in exactly the same spots as a bracket off of a small block. There is a j shaped piece on the back that mounts to the pump, and the adjusting slide is on the front. There is another piece that mounts to the block, and the part that holds the pump is adjustable so you can line up the belts depending on your setup. I will try to get some pics soon.

Re: Cubber's Build Thread
Do you think you could provide me some measurements too? Me and my dad are gonna try and make brackets for the power steering, so he asked me to see if someone could provide some measurements.

Re: Cubber's Build Thread
There is lots to be done with the 6's The post above is right with both offy and clifford making 4bbl plates I like the clifford as it is a billet plate and offers a little rise, The offy does not work with the turbo manifolds, but clifford's do, performance wise i havent seen any #'s to say which is better. I would HIGHLY recommend getting a Lump Kit for your inline 6 and a better cam, two minor things and you can double the hp and torque your engine makes if you have any questions or need parts sources let me know! Here is a pic of my set up.

Re: Cubber's Build Thread
Well, we know that we can pull brackets off of any old 60's-early 70's cars but we haven't been able to get lucky and find anything in any of the salvage yards around here.

Re: Cubber's Build Thread
Ok, so it's been a while since I have updated. My job has me on call for two weeks at a time periodically and the schedule can get tough. I finished up my on call rotation last Friday, an started to get ready Sat. morning.
First things first, my lovely wife and I spent most of the day cleaning the little shop I have- man, a little cleaning makes a place look good!

Re: Cubber's Build Thread
Brand new wheels I bought for another project, cant use em on this one because the backspacing will have clearance issues when I bag it
