BTW. that rear diff in your truck is a 12 bolt. And X2 on the HEI....it should fit without any problems.

Ya, I really like the older front end too. I think it makes it look more tough. Anyway, the grill wasn't hard to bolt up. I'm guessing the reason why is because the mouth is off of a 60-62, the holes are different. My 64 grill did not bolt up to the mouth because the holes were different but the older grill, no problem. I'll get that pic of the shifter tomorrow afternoon. I really appreciate all the comments. Other people like my rusted pile of something too.

Alex, thanks for the info, if you dont mind I would love a little more detail. My 64 has the 64 mouth, in your case was it just a matter of the bolt holes not lining up or was there structural differences as well? thanks!!

Do you happen to know if that distributer has a smaller cap than the standard chevy HEI.The stock Chevy was too big by a 1/2 an inch.

On my girl's '65, we have a 350 in it, engine in the rear position, and the HEI fits fine. Is your engine sitting closer to the fire wall than stock?

I'm curious about the T-5 too. Did you have to shorten the driveshaft at all, or did it bolt right in? What trans was in it before? I have a t-5 behind a 351 in my Cougar, and yes, 5 gears is amazing in a classic.

I didn't see the distributor you have. All of the large cap HEI's are the same physical size. I really don'y know why some guys are experiencing issues with a HEI distributor hitting the firewall. I as well as others have used them without issues. The bellhousing crossmembers are in the same place as are the motor mount bracket holes. I just haven't figured out what the problem could be.

the problem I had with the HEI conversion was there was not enough room to drop the distributor (with the cap off) in due to the forward slope of the fire wall, I had to unbolt the transmission and jack up the rear of the engine to gain the proper clearance, after the distributor was 3/4 of the way in there was plenty of room to lift it up to move the distributor around to get it properly timed.

Nice truck you have there. Good choice on the hood. I like the older look of the 60, 61 hood. My 60 came with a 64 hood when I bought it. The hood was the fist thing I replaced.
